Guest guest Posted October 11, 2004 Report Share Posted October 11, 2004 Hi mitch, I have never heard of any buzz words that you should include in your application when i applied or when people that joined after me put in, just be honest and if you have done any similiar jobs then don't forget to add it especially if you had a postion of responsibility. You didn't say which trust you are applying for but the non metropolitan services are looking for time served EMT's but would prefer SRParamedics, most people in last few years applied for the London Ambulance Service at least twice before acceptance, if you have the qualifications and three years to spare try the Paramedic Science Degree at the university of hertfordshire, you can work bank as a tech in your second year helping with your expenses, the degree course is basically a nursing degree which has been adapted along with the IHCD EMT and IHCD Paramedic course. Guest guest Posted October 11, 2004 Report Share Posted October 11, 2004 To get a job as an EMT in the uk you need to do the IHCD EMT course I thought mitch was applying for a trainee position, even a E,F,or G grade nurse still has to do the EMT course successfully to be allowed out on a frontline ambulance, but in london they can be fasttracked to paramedic in a four week course if they have suitable skills and training. cheers. Guest guest Posted October 11, 2004 Report Share Posted October 11, 2004 Thank you for your reply, Yes and yes, I believe that all of us here on the site are medically trained enough to commence and complete a Technicians training course, however, my local authority are recruiting people who will put people through the training. Therefore whether I have completed the technician’s course or another is irrelevant. The reason why I would like some " Buzzwords " is I have been informed via other medics who have applied for similar positions " Trainee Technicians " that regardless of the amount of knowledge or experience or even qualifications, those persons who wrote the right thing were chosen. I understand your concern about if I am trained enough, my answer is: I am trying to obtain a " Trainee Technicians " post, not a Technicians post. I apologise if this was not clear in my last e-mail. For the best part of 5 years I have written my CV and sent if off to an agency who have just re-typed it and packaged it the way they want, I am unfamiliar with how I should best apply for a position, my motives are simple, to make my application stand out and attract the attention of those who read it by entering key words and phrases. So in answer to your e-mail, I agree totally, and hopefully with the help of some people I might be accepted for Technician training. Thank you. I will be in the UK next February and would like to complete as many courses as I can (or as many as my wallet allows) whilst I am in country.
