Guest guest
I have read that kalahari oil watermelon is excellent for babies skin as well. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile Which base oil to use in homemade baby oil? I was thinking of using sweet almond oil as the base for homemade baby oil, with some jojoba and calendula oil added. Does this sound like the ideal base oil to all of you or would you recommend I use an oil other than sweet almond? Thanks for the help
Guest guest
Hi again, Sweet almond oil is a nice oil but has a tendancy to go rancid very quickly. Perhaps a better idea would be avocado oil. Here is a very basic formula for some nice oil that will have a longer shelf life. If using this for a baby, please remember that babies do not metabolis essential oils very well. Caution should be used. It is not recommended to use any EO's on children under 6 months of age. Then the introduction should be very little and limited to gentle oils such as lavender and perhaps chamomile. Doing an infusion of calendula into the avacado oil will be ok too. The fractionated coconut oil will allow for slipage and faster absorption, the wheatgern is just really good for the skin and the jojoba, although not an oil but a wax, will help to set the oil. I would also suggest adding a small amount of some vitamin E to act as an antioxidant in this formula. Avocado Oil - 7 ounces Fractionated coconut oil - 6 ounces Wheat Germ Oil - 3 ounces Jojoba Oil - 3 ounces Enjoy, ~Jo > > I was thinking of using sweet almond oil as the base for homemade baby > oil, with some jojoba and calendula oil added. Guest guest
I would agree with this and apricot kernal nourishes and absorbs into the skin quickly and not a oily as almond. All below would be good, but wheat germ is thick and oily, grapeseed is light like apricot oil. Lynn too2bizymom@... wrote: I like apricot kernal oil for baby oil. Guest guest
llaci, what would you recommend for cleansing? I would appreciate suggestions. I was basing the formula off of a recipe I came across, but I am a beginner and new to all of this. Thanks everyone for your replies! > > > > I was thinking of using sweet almond oil as the base for homemade baby > > oil, with some jojoba and calendula oil added. Guest guest
Are you looking for a cleansing oil? I like grapeseed and castor. I use a mixture of grapeseed,EVOO and castor oil for my oil cleansing routine. I haven't use soap or detergents on my face for two years. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
It is best not to use any NUT oils on a baby or child, rather something mild that does not cause adverse reactions such as Olive Oil, grapeseed oil, oil of Evening primrose. EVOO stands for extra virgin olive oil, and is not necessary to making lotions, massage oils for creams, regular olive oil is best. hth Sherry Sherry's Creations Sherry Barker http://www.herbalsoap-healingcreams.com/
