Big outlays for kit, drugs, people etc - need to do a lot of events to make it pay. Remember for small to medium events you are often competing Vs local ambulance services and SJA. Both of whom provide cover at non-commercial type rates. None of the people I know who run event cover companies are making millions - making a living more like. Get into the game 1st by doing some event cover with other companies - see the game. Where are you based? Guest guest Posted December 22, 2004 Report Share Posted December 22, 2004 I use MIR, seem to be only long term surviving insurer and whilst seemingly expensive their scheme still exists and being backed by Lloyds hopefully would pay up if required!!! They can be found at: http://www.medicalindemnity.com Have tried to get MDU interested in insuring SRParas but were not interested, I'm sure we are no more a risk than GP's!!! Most other on and off insurance schemes have either vanished or won't cover paid professional work. As long as you're trained, confident and competent, they'll cover extended roles worldwide except US and Canada. They even new what an offshore medic was this time too....
