Guest guest
Hi all was reading an article posted by dr mike a while ago about insulin. recomended was not to eat saturated fat because grass fed beef is low in fat and our ancestors did not eat it. I think a lot of us do not believe this and eat a lot of saturated fat anyway. My experience is that it is a myth that grass fed = low fat. last weekend I bought two pounds of grass fed tallow from a farmer in NH. she tells me sally fallon buys tallow from her too. she has no problem getting her cows super fat on grass alone. I had a steak from her, Jersey no less, that was more marbled than anything you ever saw from feed lot beef. she mentioned two things, the quality of her hay is as good as grass because of her methods of cutting and drying, and the cow must get to at least 3 yrs old to be fat. i think it is likely our grass fed farming methods create low fat animals, its not natural. so i think it is likely that our ancestors at plenty of saturated fat. so the question is, who is supplying high fat grass fed beef? I hate the lean stuff.
