Hello,

I have a 1 and 2 year old and I am trying to become a vegan but I am a

long way from it. My kids still eat organic dairy products. But no

meat, eggs, or chicken. It is hard to change after living on the

Standard American Diet for so long. DO you give your kids almond milk

or what kind of milk do they drink? I am thinking about buying alissa

cohen's book after your recommendation.

I strongly recommend the Weston A. Price foundation at www.westonaprice.org and

their collection of articles about nutrition and health.

Almond milk is great, because it's very high in calcium & magnesium (which helps

to assimilate calcium), but we don't need " milk " . Our children drink fruit

juices, smoothes (sometimes with almonds), and other delicious recepies we've

found on Alissa's book.

I personally think kids know what they need (the younger the easier) and after

few days they will tell you what they need. They will show you or ask for what

they want.

We are all excited about this new way of eating, and the children are really

enjoying it!

A little suggestion: buy the dvd with the book; in the past 5 years I've

collected lots of books about raw eating, but I thought it was too hard for me.

When I saw how simpleeverything was, and I think even thanks to Alissa's

enthusiasm, I was able to start the following morning!

I am thinking about buying alissa

> cohen's book after your recommendation.

that book does look interesting :

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0974896306/sr=8-

One book I really enjoy is called

The New American Plate Cookbook

This book was written by a group of professional people and The

American Institute for Cancer Research -- they worked together and

the book is really interesting (although not totally raw -- still,

for someone changing diet a bit, this has some very nice

foods/combinations/ideas)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0520242343/qid=1142900476/sr=2-

It's a w'nerful as a cookbook, too.

I ordered the book and DVD so I will let you know how it goes. I

really am looking forward to watching the DVD. I, too sometimes find

it easier to see it than read it. The recipes looked delicious on the

website.

Thanks! It seems interesting for somebody who needs to start (we do seminars

....).

Personally I grew up eating a tipical Italian diet (so not too bad); because of

my arthrites, migrane, ... I become a vegetarian, than a vegan; last year I've

had several health problems (big problems) and I went raw for one month, eating

fruit juices, salad & tomatoes, tomatoes & salad, salad & tomatoes ... I thought

that was it ... really boaring! But this time is different with a lot of

delicious recepies. I've never felt so good, with so much energy, positive

attitude, enthusiasm as when I started to eat raw. I think it's really amazing!

And the whole family is doing better than ever!
