Guest guest
You asked percentage of alcoholics, Not alcohol abuse. I have read the link that A Khader has posted, it is a v nice material to read. I have read myself. But it contains alcoholic abuse patients . Which was one of the questions in the september 2011 paper. Alcohol abuse is seen in 38 % men and 16 % women as seen in this article. Rest number of alcoholics I have written. So that is correct what I wrote. Rest I searched online for the latest references, this caries one I got from a child statistics of uk which I searched alot and now I dont remember exact reference. Sorry. Rest please remember that you cant go for statistics of pink book, since as I mentioned once before that you should check date ofp ublicationof pink book, so its STATISTICS are not recent. Guest guest
I agree with you on the fact that the percentages mentioned in the "Delivering Better Health" document refer to alcohol abuse NOT to dependent drinkers alcoholics. but still, you need to put it into perspective, I think there is no way 72% of Men and 57% of Women are alcoholics in the UK.What did you say was the source of this figures? Please share it with us.I read in a 2010 publication, that 1.6 millions of the population in the UK where dependant (out of 62millions).In a different source, they mention 2 in 100 women and 6 in 100 men are alcohol-dependent:http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Alcoholism-and-Problem-Drinking.htmTo me that sounds more like it.Anyway, I am not sure about the official figures but we might find the correct answer here:http://www.ic.nhs.uk/pubs/alcohol11 (I havent read those files)Hope it helps. Guest guest
Hi Irfan that extract says: •69% of men and 55% of women (aged 16 and over) reported drinking an alcoholic drink on at least one day in the week prior to interview. 10% of men and 6% of women reported drinking on every day in the previous week. But that is far from being interpreted as alcoholism. And second, that figure is related to England, not the UK (UK comprises England, Scotland and Northern Ireland). So it is possible that the figures you provided are wrong. If somebody has the correct answer (which I am sure is around the 2%-9% figure) please let us know. It would be great to know the exact statistics from 2009, 2010 or 2011. Guest guest
I actually agree its highly possible! Anyone I talk to is always going out for drinks after work....... Sad to say but atleast 6 days a week. And alcoholism doesn't necessarily mean they get drunk everyday, just that they depend on alcohol daily for relaxation! Anyway I am just saying since I can't find the statistics anywhere!Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device from MTNFrom: Eldridge <deldridgef@...>Sender: Date: Mon, 5 Dec 2011 20:37:21 +0000 (GMT) < >Reply Subject: Re: ore past exam questions I agree with you on the fact that the percentages mentioned in the "Delivering Better Health" document refer to alcohol abuse NOT to dependent drinkers alcoholics. but still, you need to put it into perspective, I think there is no way 72% of Men and 57% of Women are alcoholics in the UK.What did you say was the source of this figures?
