Guest guest
Like others on this board, my doctors don't seem to have much interest in and/or knowledge of the best treatment for Grade IV chondromalacia patella. My PT is giving me the old " strengthen the VMO, stretch the hamstrings " protocall. My dr. says, " Go to PT, take Celebrex, and see me in 4-6 weeks. " So, I have an appointment to see him this Friday, and in the past 6 weeks, I've diligently done my PT, avoided painful activities, and have been on (now off) Celebrex. I can't say I'm any better off today than I was 6 weeks ago. Although my MRI didn't show it, I think I may have a torn meniscus, or maybe a floating piece of cartilage in my joint. Is it worth it to have a scope to have it checked out? I have read 's book and am working on Doug's book. Maybe I just need to forego the doctor route, and self-treat? Can anyone recommend a doctor (or physical therapist) in SoCal who might give me some better guidance?
