Guest guest
Hi I am 35 years old and have just got back from an appointment to see a knee specialist about pain in both my knees. I was infact seen by a chief physiotherapist instead of the consultant I was meant to see so am a bit upset about that. I had an initial examination by the physio who told me that she susspected I had a knee cap problem which generally lasted from teens to thirties and then disappeared, so really good news the future was bright and I was really happy. She then decided to send me for a skyline x-ray just as a check and when I got back from x-ray she sawme again and was less hopefull this time. The x-ray showed a wide gap on one side of the knee cap and a very narrow gap on the other side. She then said it was arthirits and nothing could be done for me and just to try and carry on as I was. The meeting was all over in about 3 mins and I was discharged straight away and never got to see a consultant. It was a real shock to the system going from being put on a real high to a sudden cliff edge drop. Arthiritis at 35 ?. Does this mean that I just have to hope and pray I don't live to an old age so that my joints don't wear out before the rest of my body. I have recently got back into hiking again to help with severe depression and am loving it, I can't bear the thought of having to give up hiking again. My head is absolutly spinning with it all at the moment and I don't know what to think anymore. From the x-ray and what i've read, un-even cartidgle wear behind the knee cap is chondromallacia, can anybody else comfirm this ? Many thanks
