regie, this applies to me too. I am just starting soon with showel gel &

body wash, etc, and anything people have to say on it will also help me.

I color body wash, I usually do not color or lightly color lotion...

I make one scent at a time in bulk so I never really divide a batch and

scent one batch many scents...

you could always use gladware to divide your batch and scent each little

bowl separately, this is harder to do imo, as you have to measure out the scent

in tiny amounts, but it is very doable.. if your lotion is to thick to pour,

after scenting and dividing, scoop it out onto a pastry bag or ziplock and

snip the end, that makes it easy to squeeze it into bottles.

I don't work with bases at all, I make everything myself.

I don't make those products so I can't answer that but color can play a key

role. I'm a color therapist, so I pay attention to

these things. I can send you (or post the list if other people are interested)

some basic color meanings if you want. That way

you can match what theme or feel you want to convey to product color. It also

comes in handy to think about for labels, too.

Yep! I think that about sums up the basic process for most of it. It

sucks, it's time consuming, but it's what happens when we're still

small scale. There may be different methods, but the concept is

usually the same. Scenting, coloring and filling in small increments.

I color almost everything I sell, and I believe it makes a big

difference. I know many don't, so arguements can be made both ways.

You have to go with what's right for the feel of your company, your

niche, and your unique selling points. If your focus is completely

100% all natural, then coloring your stuff with anything but natural

colorants is going to be hypocritical to your own business philosophy.

Make sense? Know your niche first, then decide if color will help or

hurt. If you're not sure, do some test runs and find out.

Beth, I'm just starting out with liquid soap, shower gels, shampoos, etc -

with the intention of getting some guest houses and b & bs here to take them. I

would be interested in colour.

I make lotion and shower gels and add color to them when I make them I

never make more than 6 shower gels and 6 creams at the same time so I add

color when I am making the product so it is usually warm make for easier

pouring and I use funnels my cousin's husband made me a really neat rack

that holds 12 bottles and I have a 6 funnels so I pour till it is full then

go on to the next bottle and then the next I would like to hear about the

color meanings karen
