Guest guest
Clinical Diagnosis: Apthous ulcer Reason: Primary herpes simplex occurs in infancy or childhood so it is automatically taken out. Herpes simplex recurrent 1) Occurs in same location, there are prodromal symptoms and usually other parts of body are also involved. shingles or herpes zoster affects the nerve, so usually that side is effected alongwith other symptoms in regards to the nerve. Erosive Lichen planus - the only difference between erosive lichen planus and apthous ulcer/stomatitis is that in erosive lichen planus the area is larger, more irregular and the lesions persist for longer durations Confirmation of Diagnosis: Blood cell count seems the most probably answer to rule out any other conditions causing the apthous stomatitis. Because there seems to be a recurrance. Apart from this other tests done for Apthous ulcers can be Eosinophil, Sedimentaition rate, Ferritin, Folate and Vit B12. True or False True - No specific workup is required True - Patient has a case of minor recurrent apthous ulcers since these are most common and this cant be herpetiform or major apthous ulcer. False - Apthous ulcer is NOT an infectious condition False - RAU is an autosomal recessive entity Statements true about apthous stomatitis Exceed 2mm (3-5mm) Characteristically they are found on movable mucosa (cheeks, lips, tongue and roof of mouth)
