Hello and Happy New Year from a Newbie!

Hi! I recently found this group while I was doing research on

Supartz injections for the knee.

A little background: I blew out my right knee when I was 17 and am

43 now. Mutiple surgeries over the last few years, mainly for

meniscus repair.

I have a really great OS, and he has kept me walking and for the most

part pain free until the last couple of years. Father Time has

finally caught up with me.

I have no cartilidge in my right knee, lateral or medial. The joint

space is almost bone to bone. My last surgey in 2004 showed mutiple

areas of exposed bone where the peri-osteum had warn through.

I have always taken good care of my health, not overweight, and have

full range of motion for the most part in my right knee except when

it gets full of fluid. (I work hard at my rehab). I do weights to

keep up my quad and hamstrings as well as utilize a stationary

recumbent bike three or more days a week for 90 min a day for my

workout.

My OS has been after me the last 9 months to try the Supartz

injections. He says that he has had a lot of good results with his

younger patients and since I have no other options...

This doctor has always be straight up with me, I have known him both

professionally and personally since 1991.

I have relented for now, and scheduled my series of injections

starting on 1/17. It is not that I don't trust my doc, I just would

like some other imput if anyone has had any experience with this

therapy and how was your outcome?

I have been researching it on the www. but you just get all kinds of

info, it is hard to sort through.

Thanks,

Marilyn
