Hiya to everyone on the list

As you know on my intro to the list finished the oil rig medics

course about one week ago. Im RGN/RMN, with 6 and a half years in

Saudi with some remote work. Have done Occ Health and some Practice

Nursing also.

Am just at the stage of trying to get registered with what seems to

be an endless list of agencies. Has anyone any experience with some

the firms online who offer to put your CV arrround for you, obviously

for a cost???

Also anyone any suggestions to speed things up or do you have to go

through the laborious task of contacting each agency?

Any useful currently recruiting adresses would be grateful

Prior to nursing I served in the Royal Marine Commando's and briefly

(one year) in the South African Army.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dave,

In my experience, getting your first gig offshore is often the most difficult.

Nobody seems to want to employ someone who is unproven in the offshore

environment, yet the only way you can get the experience is to get a

gig...vicious circle. The only thing you can do is get your CV off to the

various agencies (send them yourself with a copy of your certificates - if you

can't be bothered to do your own admin in a job hunt, it doesn't bode well for

the future!) My list includes Aon, OSMI, Oilfield Medics and Atlantic

resourcing the other guys may know of other contacts. Follow up the CV with a

call and get onto good speaking terms with the offshore coordinators there. You

will just have to keep calling them and chasing the work. There is no secret

formula, you just need to be the only bod available at the time that a rush job

comes in. Keep phoning every day or two and make sure you are available to go

within 24hrs notice. Good luck. What did you do as a Bootie, or did you mean

that you worked with them?

Ta for the advice Margaret. Yes I was in the Marine's, firstly 41 Commando and

latterly 40 commando. Nothing to do with nursing at this time.
