Hi Hope, I'm not to sure what you want to make, but

I've made some great soap with cuttings from my aloe

vera plant. I cleaned the stalks and put the whole

thing (you can just use the pulp too) in the blender

with a little water, until it was a gel like

consistency.

Hi Debbie,

Unless your aloe vera gel states that it becomes gelatinous once

reconstituted, it will never become thick. Even the aloe producers and

bottlers use carrageenan or some other such thickener to add body and

substance to their aloe gels (in the bottle).

We recommend using xanthan gum at 2% (to start) to thicken your

reconstituted aloe powders. Add directly to the water after you have added

the aloe pwder. Use a stick blender or whisk to incorporate.

Cheers,

Trina Wallace

Debbie asked:

I purchase an aloe vera gel that is in concentrate form, 39:1. It never

gets thick....is it suppose to? Anytime I try to use this with my lotions,

it never works, but maybe that's not the reason.

Any input?

I don't know about aloe vera "gel" but there is an aloe vera oil and I also

have aloe vera butter. I just recently got it so I haven't used it yet. But supposedly

you can use the aloe vera butter in place of shea butter if you want.

Re: Aloe Vera Gel

Can aloe vera gel be added to soap. If so when, and what are its benefits. lets see there is pure aloe vera gel... that is pure extracted aloe with a

gelling agent added, nothing else

there is a lot of marketed aloe vera gels that have other additives in the

base... you can look at ingrediant lists and see for yourself

All I know is that there is aloe vera juice, which I use for soaps and lotions

and aloe vera gel which is thick and very refreshing. I use the gel for layered

parfaits and for hand sanitizers. I think the brand is Fruit of the Earth and I

always buy the clear.
