Guest guest
So, how long does this keep and do you have to refridgerate it? smiles, Lonie > I am glad you and your kids like it. Guest guest
Hi...I have a question about the recipe that you have for the Dispersing Bath Lotion. Since you use egg, and whole milk I assume that the vodka is your preservative, and will keep the mixture from going rancid. But for how long? And, is there any special storage advice, like does it need to be kept in a refrigerator? I think that I would like to try to make this for my daughters, and so I was just curious. Thanks, Bridget

Shake before use and use 1-2 Tablespoons per bath I also love this bath oil, but I have twisted it a bit. Use goats milk, and everclear and grapeseed oil, avacado oil, or sweet almond oil. I don't get seperation when using the everclear. I scent with lavender and grapefruit. Been experimenting with using this as a shower oil. Just put about a tablespoon of the bath oil on your poofie and smooth over your body and rinse. Leaves you feeling so fine. I can't leave home without it! Guest guest
I made some last Christmas and it is on my bathroom counter and is still good. It doesn't have as strong a scent as it did but is not rancid and feels fine. Sharen Re: linen spray > Hi...I have a question about the recipe that you have for the Dispersing Bath > Lotion. Guest guest
>Can fragrance oils be put in a linen spray? Seems like I read somewhere that eo's don't make oil spots on sheets but fragrance oils do.....is that right?? >Thanks, > HI , I make all my sprays by even adding a bit of a light oil and they are even used as linen sparys and room freshners. They work very well and do not leave an oily residue. I do not spary close to my sheets and if I did it might leave oil, but so far so good and the sheets smell wonderful so does the rooms and me too. <G> HTH hon. Guest guest
Lori, You can use just distilled water and eo's or fo's. Fill the bottle most of the way full then by the dropper full add in drops at a time. Start with like 20 then adjust from there. Just put on the directions that it needs to be shaken before spraying. Louise, pure essential oils should dissolve in the alcohol... and the drug store alcohol is 140 proof, strong enough that it should work. I;ve never used rubbing alcohol with them, because I don't want the smell of it...but we use it to clean measuring equipment, etc. all the time. Guest guest
Hi Judy; I have listed below two linen spray recipes that can also be used as body sprays. BODY/LINEN SPRAY 4 ounces grain alcohol 4 ounces distilled water 2 teaspoons fragrance oil 1 teaspoon glycerin. Mix fragrance oil with glycerin, alcohol with water. add the fragrance glycerin mixture to the water alcohol mixture. ROOM/LINEN SPRAY 1ounce water 3 ounces grain alcohol 1/4 ounce fragrance oil 1/4 ounce polysorbate 20 Add fragrance to polysorbate 20 stir. Add water to alcohol. add fragrance mix to alcohol mix. Hope this gives you a start; Raven
Guest guest
Wouldn't all the alcohol in the linen spray act as a kootie killer making any other preservative unecessary? Hi; I believe that the alcohol would act as a preservative. I have never used any preservatives in the sprays that I make or my perfume. But with the perfume I don't add any thing but the fragrance and or essential oil mixtures and an alcohol base. But I only mix my perfume up in small spray bottles they hold about 2 teaspoons so it is used up pretty quickly. Raven
Guest guest
Remember, the trick to getting clear alcohol emulsions is to dissolve the fragrance oils in the alcohol first, then *very* slowly add the water and glycerine (which acts as a fixative for the scent by reducing the evaporation rate, helping the scent last longer on the skin) to the alcohol, stirring constantly. :-) > BODY/LINEN SPRAY > 4 ounces grain alcohol > 4 ounces distilled water > 2 teaspoons fragrance oil > 1 teaspoon glycerin. > Mix fragrance oil with glycerin, alcohol with water. add the fragrance > glycerin mixture to the water alcohol mixture. Guest guest
Hi Raven, question... for the second recipe, the polysorbate 20 is an emulsifyer that gets the oil and water to mix right? Does the glycerin do the same thing for the first recipe? Guest guest
I think the glycerin is a fixative for the scent, makes it last longer. Guest guest
Hi thanks. So, would the first recipe need an emulsifyer also? I learned that years ago... let the bottle sit in a closet for a week, pulled it out and there was this big BULGE around the water level.... try dissolving your essential oils in vodka or everclear, or perfumers alcohol or in polysorbate... then add the distilled water. Guest guest
does that depend on the type of bottle? I've had EO mixes in a plastic bottle for at least two years without any problem. Doesn't vodka contain too much water to allow an emulsion? I also thought EO's didn't need polysorbate.
