Gents,

Before any one decides to take the bait on the line that Owne threw.

The moderators and editor will moderate severely any provocative

postings in a them v us thread. We will not enter into a debate of

non military v military.

You are refered to the AUP on the website.

Ian,

and everyone else I apologise if I have stirred up the age old 'us-v-them'

debate.

There just seem to be a lot of requests for ex-military medics around at the

moment. We have discussed this before, but if we are all medics what special

qualifications will an ex-mil medic have/need that a civilian medic doesn't?

Hi Owen,

Just to re-itterate Ian's point on us v them type

discussions. The reason that this list does so

well is from two specific areas; the quality of

the membership and the quality of the postings.

Thankfully, this has been gracefully accepted by

all.

The upsurgence of military jobs has been in the

main part from the completion of some numerous war

efforts around the globe, especially Iraq. Many of

these medics will be working in conditions where

they may come under fire or indeed are required to

be armed for their role.

This is not about the quality of the medic but the

type of work they will be undertaking.

Cheers,

Ross

Maybe someone out there can help me. I am a ex- U.S. military medic, with

in-patient, and clinic experience ,and 5 years as a civilian paramedic on the

streets, and not always the nice streets either. I am interested in doing

some remote medic work... not sure as how to get started, or where to start

looking. Can someone please help me. It would be greatly appreciated.

Guys,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you regarding vacancies, I have been away

and kept quite busy.

Firsty, the main bulk of work that is knocking around is for various positions

in Iraq and for that minor detail ex - military medics are of choice.

imagine going for a job asking for you to be part of a four man brick in

londonderry during the mid 80s; weopon handling and field craft would be a basic

requirement before pre hospital experiance to many of your team members.

I know of some really good RGNs that I have worked with over the years and would

have no hesitations to putting them forward first, but down test and ajust has a

differant meaning to alot of people on this list.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks steve
