Guest guest
i think vitamin D because it convert calcium into its active form hence control calcium metabolism while parathyroid and calcitonin regulate the concentration and availability of calcium in the blood ......correct me if i am wrong thanks From: nauman_ayesha@...Date: Sun, 21 Aug 2011 00:43:16 +0000Subject: ore 1 physio hormone dat control calcium metabolism?(parathyroid hormone, vit D, calcitonin) i think both parathyroid harmone and calcitonin..any 1 plz

Guest guest
Answer is Parathyroid hormone.Vitamin D is essential for the ACTION of parathyroidandCalcitonin is antagonist of parathroid hormone. From: nauman_ayesha <nauman_ayesha@...> Sent: Sunday, 21 August 2011, 1:43Subject: ore 1 physio hormone dat control calcium metabolism?(parathyroid hormone, vit D, calcitonin) i think both parathyroid harmone and calcitonin..any 1 plz
Guest guest
Parathyroid hormone (which also stimulates production of Vitamin D production within the Kidney)Calcitonin's role is very limited.Human Phisiology - VanderFrom: nauman_ayesha <nauman_ayesha@...> Sent: Sunday, 21 August 2011, 1:43Subject: ore 1 physio hormone dat control calcium metabolism?(parathyroid hormone, vit D, calcitonin) i think both parathyroid harmone and calcitonin..any 1 plz
Guest guest
Hmm. . . A bit confusing , It seems to me all the answers are correct as the active form of Vit D [1,25-(OH)2D3 ] increases the intenstinal calcium absorption. Since, the Parathyroid hormone stimulates the activation of Vitamin D (not the production) in the kidney, vitamin D is also contributing in the regulation of Ca2+ in the body. But then again, Vit D itself is not a hormone, if this is the case, the answer would be Parathyroid hormone and calcitonin. Ref.
