Guest guest
Anton, Isn't the risk of aspiration further reduced with the use of a modified bagging techinique? Three LMAs and associated kit do not take up much more space than the combitube kit and it terms of price about 1/3 of the combitube too now. Could the latter factor be indicative of the way medical providers will stock up Chhers, Ross > Re: LMA's > vs Combitube > > > Prob with Combitube is bulk and > inadvertant insertion into the trachea. > > Versus risk of 4% aspiration with LMA. > > Anton >
Guest guest
Hi Ross, Without a doubt!! Prices dropped by about half since the patent lapsed. Guest guest
, I think the whole idea is that the LMA or Combitube can be inserted blind and thus saves on a variety of extra equipment and continuous training for the irregular intubator. The advice was for non-medics who were doing some form of advanced first aid top-up. There is nothing wrong with tracheal intubation, scores high marks in all areas if done correctly. The LMA and combitube were being offered as alternatives or standby devices, this dependant on the skill set of the user.
