Guest guest
Hey all, I am pretty quiet on this list, but I read all the messages. I have been making what I call " Bath Fizzies " for a couple years now with no problems. I use these plastic molds the size of a piece of paper with little flowers recessed in them, so my fizzies come out like little flowers. There are nine flowers to a mold. My recipe is 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup corn starch, 1/2 cup citric acid, 2 T Cocoa Butter, 1 T distilled water, 1 T Fragrance Oil, and food grade colorant. I mix these together and press them into the molds. I usually press them in quite firmly so that they will stay together better. I wait about 8 hours then turn the mold upside down and most of the fizzies just fall out, the others I have to apply a little pressure to them. The last two batches I have made, the fizzies just will not come out. I broke my plastic mold sheets by pushing so hard trying to get the fizzies out, and the ones that did come out only came part way out. Is there something I can do about this? I have thought about lining the flower parts with something like glycerin or even crisco to help them come out. Anyone with any experience with this or any ideas on how to get them out. On the same note, I would love to make perfectly round bath fizzies, but when I bought two half sphere molds, I realized there was no way that they would make a circle. The two halves just don't fit together that way, and that was my only idea on how to make round bath fizzies. Does anyone know of a better way to do this? Thanks for any help, Angie
Guest guest
I had the same thing happen, what I think happened with me was eventually the fo's and citric kinda messed up the mold so it wasn't smooth anymore and my fizzies wouldn't come out. I had another mold and they came out wonderful, so I knew it wasn't my recipe. The fo's and citric mixed together can really reak havoc with a plastic type mold. I know some people kinda dust their mold with either baking powder or cream of tartar to keep it slick. I would try a new mold and see how your recipe works. janis rogers jansbathscents goddess_of_gloom@... wrote: > > > Hey all, > > I am pretty quiet on this list, but I read all the messages. > > I have been making what I call " Bath Fizzies " for a couple years now > with no problems.
