and i needed you to say that to me

because i'm working on giving up caffeine

Umm, uhh...now I'm stuttering while I think of a response to this...I

love my caffeine, too, and I'm not even considering giving it up, since

I have never heard of a compelling reason to do so.

It's not just the caffeine, it's the whole coffee-experience. I love the

way it smells when I grind it in the morning. I love wrapping my hands

around the warm mug while breathing in the fumes. I love making

obnoxious slurping noises that bug my kids.

But, if you really feel this is something you need to give up...may I

suggest that a good way to cut back is simply to grind half regular and

half decaf beans together, as opposed to cutting down on the number of cups.

Morning cardio does give you energy, but I still fall asleep sitting

up if I give up caffeine - cardio or no cardio. At times I've even

resorted to running the stairs at work in an attempt to stay awake

without caffeine. No dice. I can sprint my brains out, sit back down,

and be nodding again 5 minutes later. It's like I've been shot in the

ass with a tranquilizer dart or something. Who knows, maybe if you

suffer through enough days of painful nodding, it eventually goes

away. I've never made it that far though. ;-)

and when he tries occasionally

O here we go...I am a FREAK for my 2 shots of freshly pressed

organic carmel crema " Green Mountain " espresso, w/splenda every

morning- artfully brewed by my gorgeous stainless steel Italian made

espresso machine. NO ONE wants to speak to me until this is in my

mouth first.

Then the cardio magic happens. I dont think that 2 shots a day will

hurt my cortisol levels, but I do wonder. I carry my !!FAT!! around

my midsection, cuz I'm an apple-and my mom is too. Ive heard that

the stress hormone likes to accentuate the flaps in tummies. SHNIKES.

I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks,

-it gets me out of bed

-I put my obsessiveness about 'high quality living' into coffee

grinds, rather than something like desserts or wine.

-I have NO WAY of talking myself out of cardio in the morning (too

buzzed)

-Definitely 100%, will see a MORNING BM in 15 minutes or less.

Drawbacks:

-MIGRAINE

-Tummy may appear larger in mirrored objects

-fowl breath

-fowl yellow teeth

-Id have to drink green tea, or worse D.Coke

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can't live without her caffeine. I feel

guilty about it sometimes. I DO need to cut back though.

I love that you have made a real event out of your coffee habit,

spoiling yourself first thing in the morning. I don't think that

the amount of caffeen you are having is a problem, but then I'm

hooked on my coffee too, so maybe I'm rationalizing.

Someone made me realize that my energies are focused on life's chances and

instead of avoiding the change rather accept it as part of life.

Do you think that if you do your cardio in the morning and then do an aerobic

class at night that this is too much?

wrote: I think this would depend on

your circumstance. I know I was feeling

burnt out (overtraining) but that was because I was doing more than

the BFL program. I had a 'more is better' attitude, and doing HIIT 2X

a day did me in!

I also feel burnt out if I don't get sufficient sleep. Now that I

follow BFL eating, I can feel burnt out if I treat myself to something

with a lot of sugar, or drink any alcohol.

What could be doing it to you?
