Guest guest
Hi Raven, No, it won't suds up because it's not soap yet. It's still just mainly oils. I wipe out my soapmaking pot & utensils wiith paper towels before cleaning up so I won't end up with a clogged drain. HTH, Francine > > After I had poured it in the mold and was cleaning up the soap left on the bowl and wooden spoon didn't suds. This recipe has to set for 48 hours in the mold, then cure for 6 to 8 weeks. Is it supposed to suds when it is first poured in the mold or does the sudsing come after it has cured. > Thanks; > Raven > >
Guest guest
I ususally leave washing up of my soap pot and utensils until the next day - no more oily mess and no need to even use detergent. The saponified scraps suds up really well. Chrissy G ......wipe out my soapmaking pot & utensils wiith paper towels before cleaning up so I won't end up with a clogged drain. Guest guest
Hi Raven, No, it won't suds straight away. When your soap gets to trace only part of the oil has reacted with the lye, the rest happens while it's in the mold. if you leave your pot until the next day to clean it will be much easier and pretty much everything will hten come off easily with hot water. > Hi; > I just made my first batch of soap, it has olive oil 16 oz, beeswax two oz, water 8 oz and two .two oz of lye. > After I had poured it in the mold and was cleaning up the soap left on the bowl and wooden spoon didn't suds. Guest guest
Hi, I just made my first batch of soap and I think it turned out pretty well. The only problem I had is when I went to cut the bars. I left them in the molds for the usual week to firm up enough to cut but they were still a little sticky in the middle. This meant that when I went to cut them, my cutter made a sliding mark along the side of bar. How can I avoid this next time? Leave them in the mold longer? Thanks for the help! Guest guest
Drae:) Congratulations on your first batch!!!!!!!! Isn't it great??? I love it:) Hey you don't have to let it sit in the mold for a week! 24 hours should be fine. Maybe if you are using a whole lot of soft oils you may want to let it sit longer - couple days maybe, but a week is on the longish side. Honest. Regarding the wet marks. Ya know, I have had that trouble sometimes. What I heard is that if you have a wire cutter (piano wire) that it doesn't do that. As for cleaning up the marks? When your soap is cured, take some rubbing alchohol and a dishcloth, polish your bar with that. It smooths out the marks, gets rid of smudgys and fingerprints and evaporates and doesn't mess with your scent. Works well. Try it. Welcome to the soap addiction. Not sure about that last word yet??? HA,,,just wait....you watch....lol **************************************************************************** Sullivan americanwumn@... americanwumn@... Guest guest
Thanks, . I will certainly try the suggestion with the alcohol. I can't wait until it's cured and I can actually use one of these bars. I already have some people interested in buying them. Thanks again, Drae
