Guest guest
Welcome Sue, I face challenges head on. That's the only way I know how to succeed. I learned I had CMT very early in life, so my life just evolved. Re: getting out of bed - I'm not sure what you meant by 'how do you get in and out of bed' - whether this means a mobility issue, or what. Anyway, getting OUT of bed, (since I had a fusion), I simply roll to my right side, and push down with my left arm down, and rise like that. (I think the PTs called that a " log roll " ) It is very easy on the back and spine. Re: As for getting in bed, well, nothing special there, fold back the duvet, and get in. I do not spend long daytime hours in bed - way to much to do, but I get about 8-9 hours of sleep at night. Maybe a 1 hour nap during the day. Re: volunteer work - well, first there's my work with and CMT related projects. Then there's my work with our library and an environmental group, then there are a couple of non-profits on which I am a Board member. Re: work - I am a silent partner in one business, and a managing partner in another creative enterprise. Re: cooking - I don't do alot - mostly because I do not enjoy it. Fruit and vegetables, rice and fish make up my nutritional needs. . . do alot in the steamer, wok, broiler or microwave. Re: doing the dishes, some go in the dishwasher, some have to be hand washed. Not a problem. Re: cabinets - I have always found cabinets are simply made for people taller than my 5'5 " . (Most people constructing homes are men - and I swear everything is measured according to their height) Anyway, I reorganized the kitchen with what I use most in the lower cabinets and also had some mid-height cabinets built. Re: my hobbies/interests - artwork and other creative projects, gardening, exercise, animals and international travel for starters.
