Guest guest
Thank you JoAnn! It feels SO GOOD to have others understand, know, and support the way my knees hurt. Nobody gets it unless they have been there or are there. My right knee has been bone on bone for a long time, probably at least 18-20 years. I used to do all kinds of bad knee sports…track, badmitten, water and snow skiing, volleyball, aerobics, hiking, etc. I was also on swim team most of my grade school to junior high years and did a lot of long-distance bicycling in high school, along with the other sports. When my knees went bad, it pretty much stopped except the snow skiing and swimming. I had a hard time giving those up! It has been a difficult haul, but I’ve had the support of my family, even though they don’t know how it really feels. I don’t complain about my knees much, so when I was talking to my hubby about going in to see the doctor about my knees he had no idea how much they have been bothering me. It’s gotten to the point of not being able to sleep more than a couple hours at a time. I wake every time I move. It hurts my knees and hip, so hopefully there will be something the Dr can do. If not, I’ll find a Dr that can help! My doc called it " chicken fat " injections. I joked about it at least being low carbs. I had a friend who had it given to her and it helped. Mine are just too bad I guess. I asked about the cortisone injections but that wouldn't be right for me either. I guess the pain if from bone on bone. Joi, sounds like it's been a difficult haul for you. Sorry to hear that. I have been having problems for a 3-4 years now but before that I hiked and ran long distance. I was fine then. I can't imagine to be so young to have the problems. I asked my doctor for the report of operation of both the knees. He kind of looked at me funny but I said I always keep my records. That's when I read grade IV chondromalacia. The doctor just said bad arthritis with no cartilidge. You learn a lot when you get these reports. I didn't even know what Chondromalacia was ??? LOL Any way we can support each other. Good luck to you. JoAnn
