I heard that heating to around 175 and holding for a while gets rid of

the graininess. The Shea butter may have been the cause, but it cant

hurt to heat it all together. HTH

Grainy creams.

Hi,

I made a cocoa butter and shea body salve that came out very grainy. I

also use almond oil, apricot oil and beeswax. Sometimes my massage

creams do it too. Does anyone know what is causing this? Could it be

the beeswax?

Thank you,

Hello,

I have learned that if you quick freeze or cool, shea butter will not get that

grainy feel.

Hope this helps.

What's shea butter and what does it do to your skin? I'm a big fan of

different lotions and shower gels. I've been mainly buying this stuff from

myself.

Thank you all for the feedback on grainy creams. I will be making a

batch today and will keep your suggestions in mind.

I will heat up all my oils before adding the beeswax. As for the shea

butter hand salves, it sounds like I overheated the shea.

I wouldn't mind trying a grainy cream. There's this stuff Avon has called

Plannet Spa which might be a grainy cream. That stuff smells good too.
