Guest guest
Wow Jim- You said more in that e-mail than any HR Dweeb could ever put into a sentence, let alone be able to really want to take time to learn. I'm impressed! But....I noticed that Military Training, even of the SF/SAS realm, wasn't mentioned.... Thats not acknowledging a very small number of the most Highly Trained Trauma/Clinical Medical guys in the World. And, Graduates of the most meat-grinding Medical Training in the World. As I stated in a previous e-mail, my Class Graduated 5 out 93. If thats not an attrition rate, what is? (Think of the Barry Sadler song fron 1966(?)). We've been batting this around for awhile, so I'll end it there. My point? Yeah we all need the courses mentioned, but it seems the employers who are supposed to be such post-911 " Patriots " are discounting what the ex-Military are trained and experienced to do (work offshore). I had to go through Civilian NREMT-P Certification and it was e-a-s-y after the " Goatlab $ & %* " we went through. I find that the ol' " Veterans Preference " is lacking to put it bluntly. Not to put down the guys who've never been in the Military. But, when a " Joe " gets out, he still has mouthes to feed & finds the work ain't there due to some new hoop to jump as far as being " Certified " in what he's done for years, and worse. Do you not agree this is a source of irritation for the Vets? Just thinking aloud....CA
Guest guest
Hi Guys, as an aside - is it only the offshore world that accepts military medical qualifications?? Do ambulance and fire brigades require that you take further training? which professional body covers them in the big wide world of Civi street? I'm truly interested as where ex mil medics go when they leave the forces .... this is just for interest & not aimed as a 'bashing' email - please don't be offended I'm an ex- RAF nurse with paramedical quals - so seem to cover most bases.. best wishes Re: Work....Damnit Jim, THAT was good!!!! Guest guest
Jim gave a free resume building seminar - I hope the FNG's looking for experience were reading. Jim's advice is good for any medic who needs to put together a resume; something they don't usually teach in paramedic training, at least in the 'States. Do they offer career development as a part of medic training in the other countries represented on this list? Guest guest
Ian Before you ask me – DON’T BOTHER! It’s a long story involving pregnant camels, x-ray gloves, confused Arabic customs officials, not to mention a mad French woman and Rod’s introduction to the strange world of veterinary medicine!
