Guest guest
this is liquid glycerin, not soap base. natrasorb is an oil absorbing powder.. it holds little pockets of your fragrance.. and then releases it when it hits water.. if you dont have this and wanna try the recipe you could sub plain ole cornstarch... Guest guest
Natrasorb Bath is a modified tapioca starch made by national starch and chemical co. it’s like a very fine powder…like cornstarch. It encapsulates oils in pockets created by the starch and can hold quite a bit of oils while staying in a dry form. Works great for milk baths, salts, body powders etc where you want to keep “moisture” out of the feel. It disperses immediately in water to release the fragrance. I also use it in my shea butter and it cuts some of the greasy feel, but cornstarch can do that too. I haven’t tried the cornstarch for anything else though and I’m not sure it would work as well to actually encapsulate the fragrance oil. I’ll have to try it sometime. Glycerin is a sweet, sticky liquid and not the soap base. It’s in soap base but not a soap in itself. You can find vegetable glycerin from the grocery store for your recipes if you have to. It is a humectant so it draws moisture to itself. Can give your salts a nice shiny look too. hydrovance is supposed to be a sub for glycerin. Guest guest
Sure. just look for some recipes and you’ll see glycerin added occasionally and find out the % rate. I don’t know off hand how much you’d add. I have used it but now I’m into simplicity and don’t! LOL you can add glycerin to various things that I’m sure others will tell you about. I don’t make lotions by hand (I use a base) but I know you use glycerin in that. or you can sub the hydrovance for it. Hth, KimG _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of eedibops@... Guest guest
Natrasorb can be used for bath salts, milk bath, body power and more. I mainly use it for things like that which I want to remain “dry”. Before I used it, I’d add my fragrance etc to my salts and then would have to wait for them to dry before packaging b/c they’d get clumpy and stick together. now, I mix up my salts, then make a cup of some Natrasorb and add the fo to it and mix. It stays in a powder form but is now scented. Then I just mix that up well with my dry salts. You can’t even see it. I can color them or not. Anyway, as soon as it hits the water it disperses and releases the fragrance!! I also use if for milk bath and feel it helps keep the dried milk powders from getting “wet” which I think is a plus. I also use it in my shea butter. Now, this time, I use it to cut the greasy feeling of the shea. Only a little. It gives a nice silky feel as well as a drier feel. I’m not even sure of all the ways you could use it. I’ll send you the link later. I have to run!! Be on the look out. KimG _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of eedibops@... Guest guest
Lori, Go to HYPERLINK " http://www.personalcarepolymers.com/ " www.personalcarepolymers.com In the left column look for “encapsulate and release” You are looking for NATRASORB BATH You can click that and read the description if you’d like. IN the left column on those pages you’ll see “order a sample” Just go there and follow directions/requests. Yes, there are TWO natrasorbs listed. You want the BATH version. I think the other is more for pressed powders etc if I am remembering correctly. It would probably work ok in the shea butter application I use the bath for but I think the bath version works well. Let me know if you have any more questions. kimG _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of *~*Lori's Home Office*~* Sent: Thursday, February 16, 2006 4:25 PM Subject: RE: cute recipe...scentabuns Where to we get the sample from?? Guest guest
Oh geez! LOL sorry! I don’t know if the uk has a source. I’m sure the manufacture could point you in the direction of a distributor in that area if there is one. And no problem. over the years I’ve gained so much info on these groups that I like when I have a tiny thing that people find helpful! KiMG _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of eedibops@...
