Guest guest
, Now what does common sense have to do with anything the government does? :-) Cheers Z. Greaber Project Medical Services Manager Tengiz Construction Project Kazakhstan British Legion for Military Medics !! Greetings all. At the recent Annual Conference of the Royal British Legion it was agreed that the National Council will now approach the Government demanding that military paramedics be recognised by civilian authorities. " Why should the Government have to pay thousands of pounds to retrain someone who is already qualified " said one member. About time says I S. Member Information: List owner: Ian Sharpe Owner@... Guest guest
Hi all, I totally agree...........It is absolutely stupid, when I came out of the RAF my qualifications counted for nothing. I had hoped to join the ambulance service, only to be told I had to be a Geriatric Taxi driver for two years at least, and to top it all on minimum wage.....Bloody stupid. Just my twopenny worth. Guest guest
.....True here in America also. I was trained to perform General Surgery, Anesthesia, Dentistry, you name it. Some M.D. who knew how well we were trained attempted to have all U.S. Army 18D's Credentialled as PA-C's....some Army General choked on that & said we'll give em' NREMT-P instead (otherwise we'd ALL have left the Army he said)....I hope that idiot drowns in the bathtub. Instead he's created a glut of ex-Green Beret, unemployed, pissed off Paramedics. I can't find decent paying work unless I carry a gun these days....we need to un-ass the politics and bureaucracy that have affected our lives....these are primarily enacted by non-Paras protecting their own Jobs, i.e. Nurses and penis-envy Doctors who themselves are timid and weak. Don't agree with me because your weak, agree with me because you know I'm right! Hows this for Banter. Happy 4th of July. Do not know what I'm doing next though, no news on anything new as yet. It never took you long to get back out on site again. Not much time of there. Guest guest
Lets flip this around, what about military recognition of civilian trainig? For examle, once completed basic training, exempted from military medic training other than the field excercises and classes specific to the military system/weapons related injuries and paperwork etc? I think I can hear many screaming that it's not the same... But isn't it? Mush of the content is the same but there are differences in civilian programs that ex-military medics still need to take. Although I agree that the current system is a pile of rubbish - there should be a " fast-track " program in place for experienced medics that just fills in the missing bits - BOTH WAYS! Guest guest
Hi all. (Yes Ross, I have had a very good holiday, thank you!) Did any of you see the mail I sent some time ago re: training for CMT's to allow them to cross train and be qualified as IHCD Paramedics? The object is to allow them to work straight into the NHS as Paramedics. If not, I will try to get it on the RM sites asap. Guest guest
Lets flip this around, what about military recognition of civilian trainig? -------------- Many moons ago after qualifying, myself and some of the girls in my year were wondering what to do next when one of the girls had the bright idea of enlisting in the army. Off we toddled to the recruitment office (after an hour or so in the pub) to talk to a nice Sgt who informed us that the ladies would be more than welcome in the Queen andra Nursing whatevers, as some sort of lowly officer (military ranks are not my forte); I on the otherhand may be useful in the RAMC, and if I was accepted, might 'progress rapidly' up the ladder if I proved myself! Oh I loved those days of equality :-) DaveO

Guest guest
Why not indeed, in the USAF amongst the Pararescue community who are all EMT-P registered you can get a waiver from the medical training by having a civvy qual, in fact all spec ops medics have to have the same level of qual up to paramedic now. Why we don't have a similar scheme over here does amaze me sometimes but there are some differences but again easily made up with add on training or refreshers. Makes sense to me.
