Do you have any good tips for lip balms or body butters (even lotion bars)?

Any tips?

lip balm simple recipe

2 T. petroleum jelly

1 tsp. beeswax

10-14 drops peppermint essential oil

Melt petroleum jelly, and then add beeswax. When melted, remove from

heat and add peppermint EO. Pour into a container and cool.

lip balm basic recipe

1 oz part beeswax

2 oz cocoa butter

2 oz sweet almond oil

1 tsp vit e

flavor oil of your choosing

In a very small pan, add the beeswax and melt over the lowest setting.

Once melted add the cocoa butter chunks and shea butter, let melt, and

then add the sweet almond oil. Heat through. Add the Vitamin E oil

and flavor oil , stir.

Remove from stove and pour into a glass measuring cup for easy pouring

into lip balm containers.

this is an awesome microwave body butter

2 ozs cocoa butter (weighed)

2 ozs natural shea butter

(weighed)

2 ozs mango butter (weighed)

1 teaspoon almond oil

3 teaspoons apricot kernel oil

1 teaspoon beeswax pearls

fragrance oil

1/4 teaspoon Vit E. (optional, as

a preservative)

Directions:

In a microwave safe measuring cup, add all the ingredients except the

fragrance oil. Melt, in 1 minute intervals in high until all the

ingredients have liquefied. Continue to heat on low for another 2-3

minutes (do not boil). The continued heating will help prevent the

butters from becoming grainy once solid. Remove from microwave and

stir. Let set to cool for a few hours and stir again. Before the

mixture sets (overnight), add your fragrance oil and stir, even whip,

to incorporate the scent. Spoon into jars or tins and label.

Note: This is a firmer body butter.

If you prefer a softer butter, the

consistency can be adjusted

by decreasing the amount of

beeswax and/or cocoa butter. Or

just adding a drizzle of liquid

glycerin.

That's what I do too and love the creativity of it. I would like to learn

cp (haven't even tried yet) but I'm happy with the MP base I use. and I'm

busy and excited about making a lot of body/bath products right now too. I

love hear all the info about solid lotion bars, body butters, scrubs etc.

I'd love some sort of book with just the definitive explanation of all the

butters, oils and other things. It's hard to know with out bugging everyone

with tons of questions and for exact recipes when I know I should be working

it out on my own more. But who has the time or money (for more supplies) to

waste on probable failure recipes. Its soooo great of other soapers to

share knowledge!!! I love it.
