Ladies and Gentlemen , Are we seriously expected to believe that member

of this list is suggesting that a member of the British armed forces was

mutilated in this way. As a former member of Her Majesties Forces and a

registered Nurse since 1974, may I suggest the list owners take action

to seek clarification of this matter and the details passed to the

appropriate authorities. If however it is found that this " True story "

is in fact false, perhaps we should reflect upon whether a site such as

this, is an appropriate place for such an individual.

The topic of drinking and sniffing things got me to reminiscing about an

incident that happened concerning the British Army in Germany, circa

1985.

A young British soldier was found dead in his (individual) barrack room

and

the military police could not work out what/who had killed him, so a

Post

Mortem (Autopsy) was needed. The Army Pathologist thought that the

soldier

may have inhaled some sort of toxic substance and wanted further

specific

tests carried out. The lads head was severed, packaged and dispatched to

the

UK for forensic examination.

On further investigation and searches of the lad's room, a significant

pile

of BCF vehicle fire extinguishers was found in a locker (funny how the

MP's

missed them the first time !!) and it was concluded that he had been

firing

the extinguishers into his laundry basket then sticking his head in to

inhaled the fumes.

And to make matters worse for what appeared to be a very poorly handled

investigation by the MP's, the SNCO tasked with hand-carrying the head

back

to UK got drunk on the ferry and throw it overboard.

True story honestly.

Hi ,

I can quite believe it.

On a trip to Scotland Yard's Black Museum I was shown an arm that had been sent

to the police by the French authorities. All our plod had been asking for were

fingerprints!!!

Grant,

I think the chances of me as the list owner ever finding out if it was

true or not are next to zero. In honesty I can't see too much wrong with

the post, it is neither directly offensive nor implying any wrong doing,

it is purely an anecdote. A little off the wall maybe but then the list

has been quite of late:-)

However for the record - Gents lets keep it professional.....

If memory serves me correct similar things can happen in civilian life. A

number of years ago a sight seeing boat (The Marchioness?) on the Thames in

London sank with heavy loss of life. As many of the bodies were trapped in

the wreck and there was going to be a delay in raising it there were

concerns about identifying the bodies. The solution that I believe was

arrived at was to send down divers and to amputate the hands of the bodies

for finger printing. This understandably caused quite an outrage when it was

eventually revealed.

It does seem outlandish, but having read that highly infectious body parts

were dumped on an open tip in the UK I am prepared to be open minded about

almost anything these days. I would have thought they would have sent the

whole body home for a forensic then burial according to his families wishes

after it had been released.

If true it is a very tragic thing.
