Guest guest
Hi, Suzy! i actually just pour a little FO over my scented stones when they get weak smelling. It doesn't change them or dissolve them in any way; they're still nice and hard, but just fresh smelling again! :-> - Ela (000)___(000) Ela Heyn / @ @ \ ferret@... | | ======@====== http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/5483

Guest guest
Here's a scented stones recipe I saved , possibly from this list. Scented Stones 1/2 cup plain flour 1/4 cup salt 1/4 teas. alum powder (a spice!) 1 tablespoon essential oil 2/3 cup boiling water food coloring, if desired 1. In bowl, mix dry ingred. well 2. Add essential oil and boiling water to dry ingred.(scent will be strong but will fade slightly when stones are dry) 3. for colored stones, blend in food coloring, one drop at a time, until desired shad is reached. 4. Blend ingredients to form a ball. 5. Working with a small amount at a time (app. 1/8 teas.) roll dough between palm of hands to form a small ball. 6. Allow " stones " to dry. I used my dehydrator on one batch and found it worked great. _Georgia Bell wrote: > On the 26th, there was a recipe posted for scented stones...it gave the ingredients but no instructions on how to do it. Guest guest
Yes, they take forever to dry and can look a bit crumbly. I roll them in fine glitter, this makes them look a whole lot more attractive. I needed to speed up the drying on some of mine, I put them near a heating vent. You also can use a fan. For what it si work, I use the recipe that calls for the smaller amount of alum. Press
Guest guest
Hello everyone. I have been watching the posts. What a wonderful group of people who are willing to share! I know I missed the formula for the scented stones. Could someone please send this to me. I'd love to try them. Also how are you marketing them? I have some really great things I have made and would like to begin selling them locally. Any suggestions? Guest guest
You know, I only tried to make the stones once. It was a mess. I rolled them in additional EO and glitter. They stuck to the pan, they stuck to wax paper. They stuck to anything I made them in! When they finally dried and I pried them off the pan, they were hollow! Course the bottom half of most of them were stuck, so I just tossed them. Perhaps I should try it again! Judy in OK

Roll into tiny balls, using about 1/8 t. Dry. You may use a dehydrator to speed things up. Some roll them in more oil after they're partially dry. Some roll them in mica or sparkles. You can put them in a bag or a clay pot or other receptacle. HTH, Beth

Dogs are omnivores, which means they eat everything, and trust me, they do. Having something like scented stones around their dog bed sounds to me--no offense, please, I am just concerned for safety!--like a really bad idea. Guest guest
This was sent by Charmaine back in April: scented stones Hello Charise, I read these posts everyday just to learn something new and seldom do I actually have an answer to somebody's question. But this one I have! I copied this recipe from someplace on the net and did make them once. There pretty cool. I like to add them to gift baskets just for something different. Recipe: 1/2 Cup plain flour 1/2 Cup salt 1/4 tsp. E/O (your choice) 2/3 Cups boiling water Food coloring mix dry ingredients well. Add essential oil and boiling water to dry ingredients. Mix well again. Scent will be strong but will fade slightly when dry. Add food coloring 1 drop at a time till desired shade is reached. Add color to whole batch or divide and add different colors. Form into different sized shapes and sizes to look like stones. Allow to dry. I also like to make " Oatmeal Milk Bath Balls " They too are cool for gift baskets. Recipe: " Oatmeal Milk Bath Balls " 1 Cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder 2 Cups milk powder (I blend this even finer in my blender) 1/2 Cup " finely " ground oatmeal 4 to 6 oz. Shea/Coconut Butter 1/4 tsp. E/O Melt butter. Add E/O to dry ingredients, mix well. Mix the oil to the dry and form into small balls (I have never had luck forming into molds). Wrap in sturdy saran and tie w/bow. Hope this helps! Charmaine --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
