Here's a scented stones recipe I saved , possibly from this list.

Scented Stones

1/2 cup plain flour

1/4 cup salt

1/4 teas. alum powder (a spice!)

1 tablespoon essential oil

2/3 cup boiling water

food coloring, if desired

1. In bowl, mix dry ingred. well

2. Add essential oil and boiling water to dry ingred.(scent will be strong

but will fade

slightly when stones are dry)

3. for colored stones, blend in food coloring, one drop at a time, until

desired shad is

reached.

4. Blend ingredients to form a ball.

5. Working with a small amount at a time (app. 1/8 teas.) roll dough between

palm of

hands to form a small ball.

6. Allow " stones " to dry. I used my dehydrator on one batch and found it

worked great.

instructions? I would really like to try this. Do you just mix the ingredients

together and then roll into balls?

Angie,

I asked that same question not too long ago, and the answer was to use them

as sachets, in drawers, etc. You can put them in little sheer bags or in a

small clay pot, and so on.

Yes, they take forever to dry and can look a bit crumbly. I roll them in

fine glitter, this makes them look a whole lot more attractive. I needed to

speed up the drying on some of mine, I put them near a heating vent. You

also can use a fan. For what it si work, I use the recipe that calls for the

smaller amount of alum.

Hello everyone. I have been watching the posts. What a wonderful group of

people who are willing to share! I know I missed the formula for the

scented stones. Could someone please send this to me. I'd love to try them.

Also how are you marketing them? I have some really great things I have

made and would like to begin selling them locally. Any suggestions? TIA

You know, I only tried to make the stones once. It was a mess. I rolled them in

additional EO and glitter. They stuck to the pan, they stuck to wax paper.

They

stuck to anything I made them in!

When they finally dried and I pried them off the pan, they were hollow! Course

the bottom half of most of them were stuck, so I just tossed them.

Perhaps I should try it again!

Scented Stones

1 1/2 c. flour

1/4 c. salt

1/4 t. alum

1 T. eo or fo

2/3 c. boiling water

Mix dry ingredients. Add eo and water. Mix until it forms a ball. Roll

into tiny balls, using about 1/8 t. Dry. You may use a dehydrator to speed

things up.

Some roll them in more oil after they're partially dry. Some roll them in

mica or sparkles. You can put them in a bag or a clay pot or other

receptacle.

How about placed at a kitty litter box? or doggy's

bed? >>

Cheryl and Suzy,

I'd keep away from most eo's or fo's near a kitty litter box, too, since

they're so sensitive--not to mention finicky!

However, I was thinking tonight of using pennyroyal stones in my dog's bed to

repel fleas.

And, if they're anything like my dogs--who are known to eat anything from

plants to light bulbs to soap to Q-Tips to dried dog turds to condoms (yes

they are disgusting, lovable creatures, and I wouldn't trade 'em for the

world!)--they might be viewed as potential food.

Dogs are omnivores, which means they eat everything, and trust me, they do.

:) Having something like scented stones around their dog bed sounds to

me--no offense, please, I am just concerned for safety!--like a really bad

idea. Anything inedible is like the finest caviar, to them.

This was sent by Charmaine back in April:

scented stones

Hello Charise,

I read these posts everyday just to learn something new and

seldom do I actually have an answer to somebody's question. But

this one I have! I copied this recipe from someplace on the net and

did make them once. There pretty cool. I like to add them to gift

baskets just for something different.

Recipe:

1/2 Cup plain flour

1/2 Cup salt

1/4 tsp. E/O (your choice)

2/3 Cups boiling water

Food coloring

mix dry ingredients well. Add essential oil and boiling water to

dry ingredients. Mix well again. Scent will be strong but will

fade slightly when dry. Add food coloring 1 drop at a time till

desired shade is reached. Add color to whole batch or divide and add

different colors.

Form into different sized shapes and sizes to look like stones.

Allow to dry.

I also like to make " Oatmeal Milk Bath Balls " They too are cool for

gift baskets.

Recipe: " Oatmeal Milk Bath Balls "

1 Cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder

2 Cups milk powder (I blend this even finer in my blender)

1/2 Cup " finely " ground oatmeal

4 to 6 oz. Shea/Coconut Butter

1/4 tsp. E/O

Melt butter. Add E/O to dry ingredients, mix well. Mix the oil to

the dry and form into small balls (I have never had luck forming

into molds). Wrap in sturdy saran and tie w/bow.

Hope this helps!

Charmaine

Hi :

Here are a couple of recipes for the scented stones.

Scented Stones

1/2 cup flour

1/4 cup salt

1/4 tsp alum

1 Tbs essential oil

2/3 cup boiling water

food coloring optional

In a bowl mix dry ingredients, add boiling water and essential oil. If

colored blend in food coloring 1 drop at a time untill desired color is

reached.

Blend alll ingredients and for a ball. Working with a small amount at a

time, roll dough between palms to form small balls or " stones " . Allow to

dry.

You can put 10 - 12 in a small net bag and tie with a ribbon.

Potpourri Rocks

1 cup salt

1 cup flour

3/4 tsp essential oil

1-1 1/3 cup of boiling water

Mix ingredients into a stiff dough, and then shape into balls, flatten to

resemble small stones. Let air dry untill hard before using.

You can add food coloring or dried herbs or flower petals to dough before

mixing.

Hope this is what you want.
