Guest guest
When solving numericals in LA it will be helpful.. I. 2% lidocaine LA sol means :- 2gm (or 2000mg) of lidocaine in100ml of sol. That means 1ml of sol contains 20mg of Lignocaine. Similarly 3% LA means:- 1ml LA sol contains 30mg of Lidocaine. 2. 1:200000 Epinephrine means :- 1g (or 1000mg ) of epinephrine in 200000 ml of LA solution. So, 1 ml LA sol contains 0.005mg of epinephrine. Similarly 1:100000 epinephrine means :- 1ml of LA sol contains 0.01 mg of epinephrine. MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED DOSAGE OF LIDOCAINE IS AS FOLLOWS... I. MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION:- 1. WITH EPINEPHRINE :- 7.0 mg/kg body weight (or 3.2 mg/lb body wt.) Not to exceed 500mg 2. WITHOUT VASOCONSTRICTOR :- 4.4mg/kg body weight (or 2.0mg/lb body wt) Not to exceed 300 mg II. AUTHOR'S RECOMMENDATION:- As Suggested by The Council On Dental Therapeutics Of American Dental Association and the USP convention.:- 4.4 mg/kg body wt (or 2mg/lb) For Lidocaine with or without a Vasoconstrictor .. Not to exceed 300 mg. REFERENCE :- Handbook of Local Anaesthesia - Stanley F.Malamed > > b. 6ml > > Maximum safe dose of Lidocaine + Adrenlaine is 500mg, thats 7mg/kg for a 70 Kg adult.
