Guest guest
Hi All, I live in New York and you know you can get anything in New York. Recently I have seen vendors selling unrefined Shea Butter. I usually buy Refined butter from online companies for my products. But I read somewhere that shea that is refined can (or does) lose a lot of it's beneficial properties. I've never used unrefined shea before. Does it have an odor? Can I prepare it the same way I do with refined shea butter? Does anyone know or use unrefined shea butter for body butters or soaps? TIA Nikki
Guest guest
I have only ever used unrefined shea butter and I love it. I think the smell is lovely. I recently read that some of the nutrients in shea butter are lost during the refining process. I just whip it up with essential oils. Pure and simple. Guest guest
I always use unrefined in soap. Sometimes I use refined, but only for the " pretty " toiletries: lotions etc. B > > Any thoughts on which kind I should use in a batch of CP soap? I just began using Shea butter myself........Sense I won a certificate for it last year. Gabby > If I were you I would go with the unrefined shea butter. A good unrefined shea butter will have a nice yellow color to it. > > HTH, > La Shonda > > >
