Guest guest
>>I have lost my recipe for Smelly Jelly and need to make it with (well, they decorate the baby food jars with tissue paper) my preschoolers for parent gifts! Could someone please send me the recipe? It's okay just to email me with it! Thanks! andra in Washington>> andra, My first graders painted the baby jars with liquid tempera, you can also decorate them with stickers. The recipe I used was 1/4 tsp. agrosoak crystals and 1/2 cup liqid poupourri. I had the agrosoak measured and stored in empty film containers. The kids poured it into their decorated jars. I poured the liquid poupourri into the jars and covered with the lid. The kids watched the crystals grow and were amazed. When they got them home the parents took the lid off. HTH Irma jvjv2@... Guest guest
Raven, I have a question...I have made the smelly jellys using the liquid potpourri and also the method with using EO's but I still can't smell them unless I put my nose right near the jar. What am I doing wrong? Do you know how to make them so that they actually freshen the room they are in ? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to make some for gift baskets.. Thanks, Vicki
Guest guest
Hi Vicki; The ones that I made aren't that strong either. They smell good when I am close to them. But the store bought ones seem to lose their scent after a day or two also.I bought some I believe that Glade is the brand anyway they are little flat thin glass pieces that has a jelly like substance on the back, these are just a fairly new product, they smelled really nice when I first put them out but after a couple of days I could hardly smell them at all unless I put my nose right up to them. IMOP I believe these are more for looks than fragrance. I saw one at Wal-Mart the other day, and when I go back I am going to buy it and see how long it lasts. It is in a jar with a slotted lid. Guest guest
Raven, Thanks...I thought I might have done something wrong. I'm sure there must be a way to get the scent to throw on these things...I will just have to try to research it more and if I find out anything I will post it for everyone.... In the meantime, let me know how the other ones work out that you are buying.. Thanks, Vicki
Guest guest
Hi Vicky; Come to think of it I have never bought an air freshner that the scent will last more than a day or two. I think that I have tried them all. They smell nice and strong when first opened but after a day or two the scent fades. Raven
Guest guest
I am trying to come up with an alternative name for this product...I am getting way to many comments like...do they stink? So, figuring that the word " smelly " associates with something unpleasant to smell, I'd like to come up with something else. Do any of you make this product and use a different name? I was thinking of just changing it to fragrance jelly...any thoughts?
