Guest guest
hello, I am trying to make a waterless lotion, any ideas? and what preservative would I use for that? I tried sunflower oi with a little beeswax, seems nice, but more like petroleum jelly. natasha

Creams are about 50-75 % water based so again, impossible. Adding wax to oil makes jelly. You can make a body butter, or a salve without any water based ingredients and use an OIL based preservative. You can however, use water based ingredients with no water [ H2O] in a lotion or cream by using aloe vera juice, glycerine, witch hazel, denatured alcohol, etc. The lotion will be heavier, than with adding water but serviceable. see my article I wrote for the list Mom on her website at http://www.glenbrookfarm.com/makinglotions.htm on how to make quality lotions. hth Sherry
