Guest guest
Thanks to those of you who replied. I am not using shea butter in my recipe. I used cocoa butter, beeswax and sweet almond oil and they have gotten grainy and the beeswax has gotten chunky too. Am I not letting the beeswax get hot enough? I am not sure what to do.HEELLLPPP. Guest guest
it sounds like you are not melting the beeswax long enough. Try puting all of your ingredients in a bowl together and melting them at them same time, that is what I do and I have not had any problems with lumpy or grainy lip balm. I hope that this helps, Branda lip balm problem Thanks to those of you who replied. I am not using shea butter in my recipe. Charise Charise First, you will need to " temper " your butter, even cocoa butter, which means you need to melt it first. Then Melt the beeswax over low heat [do not get it too hot], then pour " heated " oil and the melted hot cocoa butter into the melted beeswax, and mix well to combine, stirring with a wire whisk. Add any flavoring oils of your choice, and stir to combine well with whisk. Pour into containers before the mixture 'sets up " or use a kitchen baster to transfer the mixture into the lip tubes. Do not cover. Let it cool and set till hard. Then cover. Works great for me.
