Hello all,

I have a question about lotion bars. I have made them before but I

need to make some more and Iam all out of any cocoa butter or shea

butter. I noticed that all the recipes I see have one of these two

ingredients. Is this a must? I have plenty of oil's and beeswax, just

not the cocoa butter or shea butter. Can you make it without? Would

it be just as good?

Thanks, Ellen

Yes, Ellen,

You can make it without the Shea or the Cocoa Butter. I make all of mine

without....and have no problems. You may need to use just slightly more

beeswax to make good and firm.

I guess you could. Some people use soy. But the butter is the good stuff!

Ellen, you can but the quality will suffer without butter in a lotion

bar since it adds a great deal of mositurizing properties and that is

what a lotion or lotion bar is all about, providing moisturizer to

the skin.
