Guest guest
hi everyone, i've been mixing lotions for some time, for about 3 months now. i noticed my lotions develop a chlorine-like fragrance, regardless of whether i use glass or PET bottles. have any of you encountered this? if so, i'd like to know how to stop that from happening. this is my recipe: base lotion (unscented lanolin) a few drops fragrant oil a few drops liquid food coloring A friend told me it might be the water from the food coloring. Any truth in that? Would it help if I used powder-based coloring or food coloring paste? Thanks for all the tips. yvette
Guest guest
Has it always had this smell? If so, it could be the base you are using. I personally don't use a base but make mine from scratch. You might try that and see if the same thing happens. I doubt it is the food coloring or else everything anyone made with liquid coloring would smell that way. HTH! Guest guest
Thanks . My base lotion didn't really have that smell before I mixed the other stuff in, so I'm assuming it may have been the coloring. Anyway, I will make some tests and try making a base from scratch as well. Have a good day! Yvette
