Guest guest
Exact same thing happened to me. UGLY soap. I confess I thought maybe it needed more water out of it and tried to put it in my dehydrater....yikes!!! It's been sitting now for several weeks..will probably have to throw it out, or wash the dog with it. Let me know if you find out what you did wrong as I'm sure I did the same. Guest guest
Pat, I think (there I go again)(grin) if you are re-batching you must have a tried and true method, would you be willing to share? I have several large batches of what I consider ruined soap (bad mold day). Thanks in advance, Renie Subject: re-batching Yes, I do it for all my soaps. Guest guest
Hello, I rebatch all the time, I rebatch rebatch if I have too! My instructions: I use 3.5-4 qt crock pots, works the best for me. Shred up the soap as much as you can. Slice, dice, shredd what ever you can do to get it as shreded as possilble. Fill crock pot to the top and then add more, pack down gently. So we want a slightly over filled crock pot. Now some people use Distilled water, I use Whole milk, and some people use goats milk. Its your choice. I usually use 3 fill cups of milk, and with yours being old soap I would think that would do it. But you could start with 2 -2 1/2 just to be safe. Any way my system is to put the crock pot on low wait one hour and stir, then stir every 15 minutes for another 2 hours. Then pour into mold and put in the freezer. (Some people don't put it in the freezer). What I have found is you have to experiment with this, just like all other aspects of soap making to find what works best with you and your recipe. Hope this helps Carol Kapochus Carol's Scents n' Soaps www.scents-n-soaps.com
Guest guest
Thanks, Carol, I'll give it a try. The 3 cups of liquid sounds like a lot but maybe I wasn't using enough shreds before. Worth a try - the stuff didn't sell before - how much worse can I make it? Re: Rebatching Hello, I rebatch all the time, I rebatch rebatch if I have too!
