Guest guest
Hi Thank you very much for your time and your valuable feedback.)))Wish you all the best with your results!!Sincerely Lyudmyla<br>From: rafael_marchesini <rafaelcm51@...>Subject: necessary steps for wife to work as a dentist Date: Friday, 28 January, 2011, 23:54 Hi all, I need some advice to evaluate pros/cons of my wife pursuing a full registration to work in the UK as a dentist. Some background info: I might be expatriated from Brazil to the UK in the next few months (and will be in the UK for 3 years). I and my wife have both brazilian and EU citizenship (her father is portuguese, so she is also a citizen from Portugal). She obtained her DDS degree in Brazil 15 years ago, and holds post graduate degrees both in Dental Pediatrics and Implant Dentistry. She has been practicing for the last 15 years (relevant experience). Don`t know if this could help in any way (like obtaining a waiver somehow). Considering all this, here go the questions: 1) How long does it usually take between first contact with GDC, then IELTS, ORE, etc, until you get a full registration? 2) What are the relevant costs involved (prep courses? Books? Exam fees? Registration?)? 3) Being a EU citizen, is there any other way she can work as a dentist (without ORE/IELTS?) for this period (or even earn any money with dentistry, even as a dental higienist, if it is faster than to work as a regular dentist?). I read some things aboud LDS (don`t know what it is) or SHO posts (neither). 4) Does she have to worry about visas (would it be better for her to try a certain type of visa to get a job, or is thee EU citizenship better than any types of visa)? 5) What are the sallaries we are looking at (hour wage x hours worked per month = sallary per month?)?? 6) Any brazilians in this group that could give us a more comparable idea on the difficulties of the ORE exams and the preparation needed? 7) What grades should she get in order to pass the ORE (both part 1 and part 2)? I appreciate the help! Regards,

Guest guest
Hi everyone I just want to add that in OSCEs most probably Pt. with loose molar asking for GA ref. and perio instruments were pilot stations. In DTP pt complained about denture and pain on chewing on both sides of her jaws but acctualy denture was not loose,pt was not happy with her denture & was saying that she wants a bridge,as she had a bridge before denture.Pt had fibromyalgia and asthma. Was taking statin, coedine & beclomethasone(also some other drugs, which I dont remember but not important for treatment planning).Pt said that she is not grinding her teeth but her masseter was tender & there was attrition on lower anteriors. There was general periodontitis and gingivitis.Denture was for upper left 123.Upper posteriors were very close to sinus, premolars root were overlaping 4 mm to sinus.Pt was very talkative, not giving chance to ask questions. In traetment give pt options of cast metal denture with small covering+bridge+implant(although pt. straightaway said taht she does not like implants).OHI and perio treatment. TMJ management.Ref to GP for fibromyalgia etc...
