Guest guest
Susie, I took Celexa for about 4months ayr or so ago....It works quickly and is a good antidepressant....but I was trying to change from Prozac to something else....and it just didnt get to my clinical depression like the Prozac. I have known several people who have taken it and had good results ....the thing that impressed me was how quickly it works in your system...whereas with Prozac ;it takes 4-6weeks ....Judy in AZ
Guest guest
Elf, Sorry to be late in answering, but I have been away. I have been taking Celexa for about four weeks now, and I have not noticed any bad side effects. I was taken off Paxil because my doctor said that with some people it causes weight gain. Wanda [ ] CELEXA I meant to ask this last month before I left out of town, and forgot. They gave me the CELEXA 20mg for the Fibromyalgia. I still haven't started it yet. Has anyone got a first hand account of it? Side effects, good things it has done... bad things. Susie

Guest guest
Hi , It is hard when your child has a negative reaction to a medication. We have tried Prozac, Paxil and now Celexa and so far we had our most positive reaction to Celexa. It has to be so fine tuned though and has to be at the right dose. Too much Celexa caused my son Colin to become spacey over a period of time. Generally we saw an increase in sociableness, increase in making speech sounds and words and overall a better state of mood. Hope this helps. I know it can get very frustrating, but hang in there, because if you get the right medication for your child it can be amazing! Take care, hope this helps! Guest guest
Hi Diane, My son was on Zoloft for a few years (through another doctor), and I always felt it aggravated his situation (aggression, irritability, SIB). . .but the doctor kept him on it anyway (sigh). When he finally switched him to Celexa, it was great! Not a cure-all, but less agitation, etc. Doing better overall, compared to the Zoloft days. Heidi celexa Could anyone share their experience with celexa? Thanks. Guest guest
Diane, We started out on Paxil and that did not work well for our child. He started making what his teacher called " poor decisions " (such as yelling out " I know how to spell that! " and spelling a word out loud in a the middle of a spelling test). We then switched to Celexa and his social skills just flooded in... it was a wonderful help to him. He almost immediately made friends with a little girl who had nearly driven him crazy (he would have screaming fits) on the bus every day for quite some time. When I asked how he had made friends with her, he replied... " I don't know... just changed my attitude, I guess! " With Celexa his coping skills were just better. He experienced a big reduction in anxiety levels. The screaming fits nearly vanished. Now we are trying to switch SSRIs (to see if a different SSRI might help our son progress in new ways) and are on Zoloft. The jury is still out on whether it is a good choice for him or not. He is having some bad struggles but they may be due to the need to restart an antifungal, or maybe even something else. I think of the whole treatment as a game of chess. Dr. Goldberg makes one move, waits for the child to make theirs (do they improve? Get worse? Does ANYTHING happen?). Then he ponders the next move. Many times there is more than one choice he could make next, and sometimes we see HUGE improvement, sometimes we see regression... and sometimes nothing. Our experience is that if we tough it out, our child always emerges doing better than he ever has before. Good luck! Guest guest
If you get the Arthritis Today magazine, which I love, it shows celexa in the morning for energy and doxipin at night for sleep, as treatment for fibromyalgia. I am on both of those and they work wonders. I hope my rheumy never takes me off. Judy
Guest guest
Tawny..For some reason that I do not know, antidepressants help people with fibromyalgia. I did however, ask my rheumy to increase the dosage I was on, to help me with depression. It has worked wonders for me. There is a man on the colon cancer list I am on that had terrible withdrawal problems for stopping celexa suddenly. That worries me but I don't see myself going off anytime soon. Guest guest
Judy, I will check out the magazine, thanks. So their saying Celexa is for fibromyalgia? I'm taking it strictly for depression, so that is strange. I hope it keeps working for you, Tawny > If you get the Arthritis Today magazine, which I love, it shows celexa in the > morning for energy and doxipin at night for sleep, as treatment for > fibromyalgia. Guest guest
, what is Celexa? Like Paxil? I have to say I know other men and women who have been on Paxil and they did not have the problems coming off of it like I did. Is this CMT related? Pam O
Guest guest
I do not think this is CMT related. I have a friend who went on Celexa and experienced the same problems when initially taking it. Another friend who had withdrawls when going off. I had the same problems when trying to go off of Effexor. when researching my symptoms, I noticed a lot of people experince the same thing with the dizziness when turning the head. Guest guest
Pam O, Celexa is an antidepressent. No it's not a CMT thing to have a hard time getting off of Paxil. I did a Google search using the words Paxil addiction and several sites came up. Many many people have this problem but not everyone. Guest guest
I saw the color of those generic Celexa pills and thought " NO WAY am I giving those to my son! " I got the regular ones, which are a light salmon color. I'm not worried about those; Dr. G lets me give orange Flintstones to , but not the red ones. We haven't actually started the Celexa yet, though, so I can't say how my son will do on them at this point. Donna > > Hi All, > To those of you who's kids take Celexa ..Do you use the generic or the real stuff? We were using the generic and switched to the real stuff and I'm beginning to think he did better on the generic. The reason for the switch was due to the coloring of the pill however the real stuff has got a slight pinkish color as well. He was doing well on the non generic however his blood work ..EOS when higher than it ever was so we thought maybe the color dye. Thanks ....Candi > >
