Guest guest
Hi Anita, Carnauba wax is much harder than beeswax, and has a much higher melt point. There are also different blends. If it is a straight carnauba wax then your MP will be around 181f/186f. Melt your carnauba wax first (make sure it reaches MP) turn heat down, then add your other butters, stir till melted. Shea butter needs to reach 145 for at least 5 or 10 min. This will insure it to be smooth and not grainy. Then add the rest of your oils when your temp has comes down to around 140. Let me know how this works. HTH Shere' www.nature-zone.com -----Original Message----- From: shulta_grant [mailto:shulta_grant@...] Hi all I was wondering if anyone would be kind to tell me how you melt Carnauba Wax? Quite a few weeks back I made my first ever pomade for my hair and added Carnauba Wax to it. I melted the Carnauba Wax in a double boiler & actually thought that it had melted. Boy was I wrong - I rubbed the pomade in my hands and put it in my freshly washed jet black afro hair only to find the little hard specks of the UNmelted Carnauba wax in my scalp, on my shoulders, down my back & parts that only the wax could reach - LOL - it looked like I had BAD dandruff all over! Please let me know where I went wrong and how I can improve this recipe. Many thanks in advance for your help. Anita
