Guest guest
I was looking at the product recommended. I just want people to know that there are some digestive enzymes in it as well. It mentions the lipase, and amylase, lipase, cellulase. I'm not saying thats a good thing or a bad thing. Just mentioning it, plus there are other things in it too. Maybe great for some people, maybe not for others. Connie > I may be a bit biased as E-Caps/Hammer Nutrition is a team sponsor of mine, > but I use their " Tissue rejuvenator product. Guest guest
Whatever you choose make sure it has what it is supposed to have in it. Consumer labs has a list of tested products for purity and potency. Here you go : http://www.consumerlab.com/results/gluco.asp I have used the " Joint Soother " from Vitamin World and the Kirkland(Costco brand) glucosamine 1500 Chondroitin 1200 products. The Joint Soother has MSM in it as well. As long as it gets absorbed and you get the right amount it doesn't matter what brand it is. I would just go down the consumer lab report and find the cheapest per dose on the list. You can order the vitamin world online(www.vitaminworld.com) and they usually have a big sale the first monday and tuesday of the month. zumbergc <zumbergc@...> wrote: I was looking at the product recommended. Guest guest
I don't think you can beat this price. I was amazed to see it myself: http://www.vitamins.com/pages/file.asp?PID=1029 & np=0 & sc=0 & afid=0 & safid= & edid= & xs\ = That $17.99 one is for an 80 day supply. That's not bad at all. Another idea would be to just use glucosamine. It is the only fraction of the different blends that has solid scientific proof that it works (not necessarily that the blends don't). It is also the cheapest fraction. I am going to a straight glucosamine from a blend for those reasons. I bought the 250 pill 1000 mg./pill bottle from Costco the other day for around $12 if my memory serves.....that would be less than $.10 per day for a higher level of glucosamine for those watching their pennies. But I am very impressed with all of Hammer's products -- or I wouldn't let them sponsor our team! :-) There research is always impeccable and they have a really good team, including endurance athletes, dr's, etc. When I'm heavily training for long races I use their daily vitamin pack, perpeteum, sustained energy, hammer gel and endurolytes, and they are all fantastic. Nutrition in long multi-day events may be the hardest thing for an athlete to learn, and once I found hammer, I stopped having any issues... They have a group called " endurance " if anyone is interested, but it may depress you if you are suffering from CM. :-( Lot's of talk about long distance running, biking, and triathlons. Here's their tidbit on the enzyme blend: Tissue Rejuvenator's Enzyme Blend of peptidase, bromelain, papain, amylase, lipase, cellulase, and phytase not only aids in the complete absorption of the nutrient components in the product, it provides its own potent anti-inflammatory benefits. I use the product and have been happy with it, but I don't take it at quite the dosage they recommend while injured. I only take 1 or 2 tabs a day, which is their recommended dosage for preventative maintenance. I've also used it in 2-3 day races instead of NSAIDs and it's been fine. They have 50-60 page manual called the endurance athlete's guide to nutrition that is really good, though it does of course promote all their products. But it does go into all the research behind why their products are formulated the way they are. / www.triangle-ar-team.com /
Guest guest
I'm also a fan of Hammer's products. I haven't used the joint products, but I've been pleased with the ones I've tried. Also, a good website for G/C info is: http://www.drtheo.com/ He sells his own product on his website, but I think his research is pretty good. Specifically, take a look at the products he says to stay away from: http://www.drtheo.com/badguys.html - Doug *** Snip > Yeah what I recommended certainly has a lot of stuff! Guest guest
I found a pill at Coscto which is priced good and is only glucosamine. Most glucosamine pills also include chondroitin, and the chondroitin is the more expensive ingredient. I'd avoid getting chondroitin unless you want to pay extra for the " low molecular weight " varieties. It seems the higher molecular weight chondroitin (used in most pills) is not absorbed by the body. > > Hi guys, > > I am looking to get some glucosamine pills, I heard they are fairly > expensive. Guest guest
I have been taking a product called Flexicose from dtc health. It is a liquid which u drink and it really isnt all that bad. It has a glucosamine, chondroitin, msm, and other herbs and vitamins. Its not that expensive and i am SICK and TIRED of taking pills so this liquid is nice for a change. You only take about 1/4 to 1/2 an ounce of the it. check out their website. it only comes in one flavor, grape, but you can mix it with juice or whatever but i just drink it straight up...measuring it is also easy since you can do it using the bottle...it sounds confusing but check out the website and the FAQ's and it explains it there. here is the website: http://www.flexicose.com/ > > > > Hi guys, > > > > I am looking to get some glucosamine pills, I heard they are fairly > > expensive.
