In Nevada a few years ago, we were doing these big gift shows and THEIR license covered everyone at the show. And yes, you do have ot collect tax. Most shows we have done collect it at the end (usually you make the check payable to the local tax authorities). If you ar going to sell retail, you do need a tax number. Call your local county business license dept and they can tell you what you have to do. FYI I add taxes intot he price of my items so I don't have to go fiddling for change if we get busy, just remember to record all you sell! But I was under the impression that if you are selling then you have to charge and pay sales tax to the state you are in. If you are interested in allowing people to come into your home to " shop " you should have liability for while they shop and your products. (One slip and fall outside or inside your house and they could take you for all you have). Now if you have home owners insurance this could be covered with that policy so I would check that out. In my own state you need to register for a tax id # in order to sell, and I believe that is if you are selling in a store, your home, or at craft shows. My best advice is to check in with your local chamber of commerce. They would be able to give you all the rules and regulations you would need to know.
