Guest guest
As of yet, I have not ventured into CP soaping, so this question is inregards to adding oils into MP soap. I've only tried it once or twice and the results were not very good. To one 2lb batch, I added 1 tsp of shea butter. To another 2lb batch of castille soap, I added 1 tsp of coco butter. Both batches lost almost all lather. Did I add too much butter to my MP base? Did I add the wrong butter to the wrong base? Or am I completely off base here and you can't add a butter to MP? TIA for any help, suggestions or thumps on the head you can give me. Tracey
Guest guest
the standard for adding oils or butters to M & P base is 1 TBS. total per pound. some may affect lather, so testing would be required; but i don't recommend going over the recommended amount. Guest guest
I would have to say that all M & P are not made the same. Usually it is between 1% to 5% total oils & FO you can add. I would suggest asking your supplier the best % to add to their M & P. Also, adding butters maybe be a different %. Guest guest
I think adding fractionated coconut oil will increase the lather, it works with my melt & pour base when I add additional oils, however it does not work well when I add shea butter. The soap feel great but does not lather well. hope this helps.
