Preserving a Cucumber Toner - How?

Apologizing now for this being cross posted. I personally use a toner

that uses cucumber juice and I absolutely love it. After talking

about it with a customer, she wants to buy some. I make it in small

doses for myself because of the fresh juice. It's basically a

combination of cucumber juice, witch hazel, distilled water, and

alcohol (vodka - which is actually optional). Is there anything I can

add to be able to sell this?

Also, stuff with honey, or oatmeal that's been moistened in

something, are there preservatives that can be added to these as

well?

Hi Lindsey:

Cucumber is very perishable! You need to preserve the juice before you add

it to your products. Puree the fruit and then strain the juice off. Bring

the juice to a boil in a covered sauce pan, cool and measure the juice. Add

grain alcohol: 1 part alcohol to 2 parts juice. Let it settle for several

hours and decant the clear portion for use in cosmetics.

Hope this helps!

WELL,

IF UR PRODUCTS CONTAINS 25% ALCOHOL OR MORE, IT BECOMES SELF

PRESERVATING.

ACTUALLY ETHYL ALCOHOL IS USED AS PRESERVATIVE FOR MANY THGS....

You can not sell a product with Vodka in it, it must be Denatured

Alcohol [sD} and there is a lot of info on the FDA site about rules

and regulations and also the Dept of Firearms and Alcohol requires

you to purchase a licence to use SD alcohol in a retail product, so

it becomes quite involved to sell anything with alcohol retail.

And I beleive it is 50 % alcohol level that makes it self preserving.
