Guest guest
I've read different things about this preservative and wonder just how much challenge testing has been done. I'd hate to use something that looked o.k. to me and caused blindness or other problems for my customers. For now I will stick to what I feel very confident with. Everything natural is not necessarily good nor is everything unnatural necessarily bad. Cassia for example has to be used very judiciously. Maybe enough of it would preserve (I don't think the research is finished on that) but maybe that much would cause serious sensitivity problems for some people. I'm not a chemist so I want to " know " have a safe product before I use it. Anne http://www.annelees.com
Guest guest
I think you have mentioned this particular malady before as a result of using less than or no or an ineffective preservative..will you tell me where I can find the documentation of cases of blindness or other problems resulting from same? > I've read different things about this preservative and wonder just how > much challenge testing has been done. Guest guest
Due to the strict EU guidelines we have it is VERY tough to sell anything if it hasn't been certified first. Without a sound preservative system it is rather difficult to sell any items that is a mixture of oil & water. Hi Anita! I am wondering if Aubrey Organics sells in your part of the world. This is just a curiosity q and the reason I ask is I am not aware of the regs in other parts of the world and am wondering if Aubrey has found a way around this. Obviously Aubrey's is using preservatives they are not listing on their label. I actually have a warning letter sent to aubrey's by the FDA in my favorites if anyone is interested. I am guessing they heavily preserve their " fatty acid cream base " with synthetics and since they are not adhering to FDA guidelines anyway why start now? BTW I have heard good things about biovert but it contains lactic acid so does not work for vegan formulas... wonder if burt's bees mixes it with synthetic preservatives or are they using GSE or something else? I do not have an ingredient list in front of me.... HMMMM Any thoughts? Let's keep the discussion on preservatives alive! Guest guest
I found a glossary related to Burt's Bees ingredients here: http://www.burtsbees.com/static/glossary.html It mentions which preservatives are NOT used, but I didn't see what WAS... they list GSE and say that it is " A natural bactericide, preservative and stabilizer that is both tonic and astringent " . Guest guest
Hi ya As far as I know they don't manufacture here but I know that small health food shops do sell certain Aubrey Organics products. They are located in Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland. I have heard thru. the toiletries grapevine that the FDA has given Aubrey a bit of bother about the ingredients and lack of preservatives they carry. It makes me wonder about manufacturers like Carol's Daughter - who - like Aubrey don't use preservatives but sell shampoo that is bought in from another manufacturer who DOES use preserves. (Talk about things that make ya go hhhmmmmmmmmm..!) Blimey with all this preserves going on I forgot to mention that I was contacted by 2 other toiletry makers who have mentioned the natural preserve called Biopein. Has anyone used it before? From what I can gather it has a rather fruit PONG to it and has been known to irritate. The same supplier that ended up NOT selling Biovert told me about Biopein and s/he said that it is being plate tested to the limits to see if bacteria, mold & yeast yuckinesses can survive. So I requested a sample directly from the manufacturer to conduct some of my own tests & to see if it really did PONG and/or cause irritation. I'll keep ya informed of all the goings on. Guest guest
Hi Anita, I'm from Tampa, and Aubrey Organics is located here in Tampa FL, that's where their manufacturing plant is. Their site is aubreyorganics.com just an FYI http://www.gardenofyouth.com > Hi ya > > As far as I know they don't manufacture here but I know that small > health food shops do sell certain Aubrey Organics products. > They are located in Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland. > > Cheers > Anita > > <=========================================================== > > --- In , " Sunny Imhof " > <sunnyimhot@e...: > Due to the strict EU guidelines we have it is VERY tough to sell > anything if it hasn't been certified first. > Without a sound preservative system it is rather difficult to sell > any items that is a mixture of oil & water. > Hi Anita! Guest guest
Where do you buy Naturaserve??? I can't find it on a search except as an ingredient in products. Who distributes it? Naturals by www.naturalsbykristin.com > > There is a brand new all natural preservative on the market, " Naturserve " , which (according to the manufacturer) is JUST as effective as Germaben. We've had success using it, but since it is comprised (partly) of Cassia Leaf Oil, it has a cinammon odor. > > > Tarpein > www.ToDieForSoap.com > > > >
Guest guest
It's not in the EWG/Skin Deep database....must be fairly new. I'm not using anything until it's been throughly tested and has been on the market a while. Too often we get that " phen phen " oops. I have my own opinions on " natural " products. Sure, " natural " and " organic " are the two fastest growing segments in the cosmetic industry which has created a lot of propaganda believed by people who read an article, and investigate no further. Poison Ivy, Cannibis and Opium are all natural products....I just prefer not to have them on my skin. Any product that contains water MUST have a perservative. The bacteria from unpreserved or ineffectivly perserved products can cause more harm than putting a preservative in it in the first place. I use Optiphen Plus...it's a broad spectrum preservative that is paraben free. Just don't get so hung up on the fact that if a product is not natural, its not good. That thinking can lead to unhappy customers and even lawsuits. > > > > There is a brand new all natural preservative on the > market, " Naturserve " , which (according to the manufacturer) is JUST as > effective as Germaben.
