Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry In the past I have read posts from a woman who has adopted a grown man named who has Down Syndrome. I would love a chance to ask you a few questions. Thank you. Ann (mom to Amelia 10 w/ds and Jake)
Guest guest
I'm not sure if you are talking about me or not. I have 9 adopted children, 2 of them have down syndrome. We have a friend living with us who is an adult and has down syndrome. We met him when he was 22 and we had a group home. He moved from an institution where he spent his childhood into our group home. When we moved from WI to AZ he would come and visit us every Christmas. When the group home he was living in, his brother who is his guardian asked if he could come and live with us. It was a dream come true for my husband and I. For the past 3 years, who is now 47 has been living with us. We did have a " claiming ceremony " where we claimed him as a permanent member of our family and put his 8X10 on the wall with the rest of the kids. This was at the suggestion of our then 8 yr old daughter who felt it was unfair for him not to be adopted like the rest of them were. So, if that is who you are referring to, please feel free to contact me.
