Guest guest
I think you just need the right doctor. You're too young for a doctor to write off as hopeless. Did you have a lateral release before you had the patellar realignment done? I would have thought they'd do an LR first. Ann Pain..and more pain Have had chondromalacia for years, had a patella realignement on 1 knee and a scope on a plica on the other years ago, just deal with the pain, make modifications as necessary but probably in the last month or so my pain has increased to near intolerable levels. No injury, etc. No swelling, etc. Mostly related to weather changes which is usual but not the amount. Went to the OS who said nothing surgically he can do, really I want him to do SOMETHING. Gave me Darvocet, I don't like taking a narcotic some nights but it doesn't much help anyway, I sleep only every few nights due to pain (Ultram, Bextra, and a myriad of other drugs don't much help so I quit taking them). I was exercising, walking the treadmil but some mornings that hurts too much. It comes and goes, just of higher intensity. Anyone ever experienced a sudden increse in pain for no reason? Any ideas? Am seeing another orthopedist my OS reccomended for " who can help people like me. " People he probably thinks are crazy but I can't live my life crying all the time because of pain. I am 28. have tried Synvisc in the past, Glucosamine, exercise, etc..
Guest guest
No, it was just for patella instability, i.e., it dislocated, I fell down, I was 15. Was actually an open knee which was no fun. The other knee that I had scoped is at a worse angle than that one ever was (on x-ray, my interpretation, I can read it) and subluxes minimally fequently if I am not careful but that I usually knwo what not to do. I have taken up country dancing recently and other than sometimes limping home after, that kneecap stays in place. Thing is though, would a LR take care of the pain? I can see that it woudl make the patella track properly, just aligning it would do that really I'd think. I am seeing another orthopedist in 2 weeks, will see what he says. I live in Houston, we have an awesome medical center here, so I'll see. > I think you just need the right doctor. You're too young for a doctor to write off as hopeless. Guest guest
I understand completely!! I got much worse suddenly for no reason, and now it's in both knees... I've had two of the best doctors from two of the best universities and they both basically told me there's nothing that can be done... a little physical therapy... but the answer ins't fighting, it's acceptance! I don't want to accept no walking/standing/dancing/etc. And they're very casual, like I'm dealing with a slight headache or something, not something life altering. I spend most of my days crying, and more so now. There's never been an injury and there's no swelling, no evidence on any tests from x-rays to mri's to bone scans to blood work. I feel like I'm crazy or like I'm living in old times. Before we had identified " cancer " people died with no explanation, no treatment... i feel like that. That there's something major going on we just don't have any good name/test/treatment for yet. I've tried every cream, pill, natural suppliment, excercise... If there's an abnormality, and there must be if there's pain, logic tells that there is evidence. We just don't have the test to measure it yet. Anyway, I am growing crazy too, and I wonder if I have to live my life depressed, or find some sort of sitting-down career... and give up house chores/gardening... and I wonder, how in the world would I ever have kids??? I don't want any more weight on my knees, or any more pain!!! Honestly, I'm thinking it's impossible. > Have had chondromalacia for years, had a patella realignement on 1 > knee and a scope on a plica on the other years ago, just deal with > the pain, make modifications as necessary but probably in the last > month or so my pain has increased to near intolerable levels. Guest guest
I am sorry that you understand, sorry that many others here do too but it does help to know you aren't crazy and it is real. You are right, acceptance is key and I am just having a tough time with it right now. All I can truly lean on is God's love and grace and know that while I don't understand this at all, He is in control and hears my cries. I am learning to depend on Him each and every day and draw on His strength. Dealing with all this pain is most certanly NOT the way I would have chosen to learn to depend on my Lord and Savior but again, we just don't always get TO understand it all. Before I get multiple replies that I am preachg here, please understand that I don't claim to have the answers, I just know Who does. I am only sharing a little of what dealing with this knee pain has taught me. I am not ready to give up yet. I am too young to even fathom dealing with it at this intensity for the rest of my life bu for now I just have to take it one day at a time. > > Have had chondromalacia for years, had a patella realignement on 1 > > knee and a scope on a plica on the other years ago, just deal with > > the pain, make modifications as necessary but probably in the last > > month or so my pain has increased to near intolerable levels.
