Hello Dr Khaled,

Regarding your ORE application, you need 1600 hours of experience... so, not having practiced since 8 years wouldnt matter I suppose, because even the undergraduate hours of experience are counted , and I think you cover this requirement for applying for the ORE, because most universities do. Also, the other requirement for ORE application is IELTS.. But since you are an EEA national, you dont need to do IELTS, which is another good point for you...

Regarding working under temporary registration, you may do that if your uni is listed in the GDC website... but working under temp. registration allows you to work under supervision only, so you can get to work in limited places, like in hospitals as a senior house officer,.. there are many opporunities in this field, but competition is really high, so there is no guarantee that u will secure a place..

Just remember the ORE needs really good preparation , and every applicants can have maximum 4 chances to try again if they fail .. Am sure you can do it insha Allah, and I really wish you all the best.

Since u r an EEA national, try contacting the GDC bcoz the last I heard EEA

nationals got exempted from giving ORE. Correct me If I'm wrong, but do check

wid the GDC!

Hi,

I think you have to take ORE exam because your degree is not from the accredited EEA dental colleges better to contact GDC first. But the only gud news is that you will be exempted from IELTS which many students strugle to pass. At the momemt Its v.v difficult to get a temporary registration. Yes, your training practice hours would be counted.

I think irrespective of your nationality, the eligibility for full registration with gdc without taking ORE only comes if you have a degree from EEA countries.

if you want a temporary registration then you have to check the list of universities which are recognised by gdc for registration, if you are eligible then you can apply for observership or sho etc.

Hello Dr El-Ayan,

Regarding registration with the GDC, you can get a temporary registration without IELTS or ORE, but not full. For full registration you need to pass the ORE and since you are british citizen , you are exempt from the IELTS. You dont need to do it.

Fot temporary registration , you need to have a job offer before you apply for it. There are lots more details so its better to go through the GDC website...
