Guest guest
After hunting in three grocery stores....I finally found it, in all places, with the bathing soaps. For some reason, my stores don't put the Fels and the Kirks Castile with the laundry items. So, for those of you having a tough time, you might try looking with the bath stuff. _________________________________________________________________ iVillage.com: Solutions for Your Life Check out the most exciting women's community on the Web http://www.ivillage.com
Guest guest
Hey, thanks for the F.N. web site. I have never seen this stuff and didn't know we had solid laundry bars in America. They have lots in Mexico and I brought some back with me last time I was there just cuz I thought they were cool! I may make some calls today and see if I can find it anywhere and if not, maybe I'll try my Mexican laundry bar to make some detergent.... Guest guest
I have been having a harder time finding the Fels Naptha, but I have found it consistently at Adronicos grocery store (in the SF Bay Area in Calif.) I often find it at hardware stores (Can't remember the name, its that one that always advertises on TV nationwide). I use Ivory when I can't find the Fels Naptha. Andronicos gets kind of pricey but I will pay it just because I like how shirts, sheets and towels turn out with my own detergent. I think the washing soda (which I also have a hard time finding <sigh>) compares to the borax as far as helping with the cleaning power. Guest guest
Hi Lori: I've heard this from my mother too. I happen to have a brand new bar in the kitchen under MY sink and I think I'll check it out and see if we can figure out how to make some. You never know, we COULD get lucky. Guest guest
Me too, Jacque. How are you doing ? I've been staying home with a new litter of puppies. Feeding every 4 hours to try to help mama out. Also, she needs to go outside to potty every 2 hours almost on the dot. Much interrupted sleep lately but worth it for sure. Had to have c-section so I had her fixed at the same time. I could never see her go through that again, especially when the vet told me I might lose her and all the pups. Not much hope given me for the babies but he pulled them all through. Boy, do I owe him now. Again, worth it to me ! If you would like to see pictures of mom and kids, let me know. I have their folder on my desk top. They are a beautiful litter of Bichon Frises and I can't seem to quit kissing and cuddling them. She had 6, 5 boys and 1 girl. If someone finds the fels naptha soap, will you share it with me? Hugs, Jenn in Or --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Jenn, have you tried Fred Meyers?? They have it. Or try this site - it is a locator for a store carrying Dial's Fels Naptha. http://www.dialcorp com/storelocator/index.cfm Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Kat: I found it this evening . Good old Freddies here in Medford. I would love to see what the ingredients are in this stuff. There are none on the package. How do they get away with this? We don't . Hmmmmm. Guest guest
An ingredients list isn't required for soap (if it meets the FDA's definition of a soap); only for " cosmetics " (which is everything except soap). Anyhoo, that's my understanding of the CFR. HTH Re: Re: FELS NAPTHA Hi Kat: I found it this evening . Good old Freddies here in Medford. I would love to see what the ingredients are in this stuff. Guest guest
What is this particular soap good for? It seems that alot of you all here wants this soap!
Guest guest
I searched quite a bit for the soap when I first started making my detergent. I found some sites about it and the Naptha part of it has to have something to do with the ingredients. I know I read this on one of the sites, but can't find it anywhere now. To me the scent has always made me think of petroleum. I did a search on naptha the other day and found that it was used in some way during the refining of gasoline/petroleum products. This would explain the grease removing properties of the stuff. I'm not chemically oriented enough to know about this, but it always reminded me of a mild gasoline or kerosene scent. Very clean scent, but still the lingering of petro in the background. Guess it's time for donning the thinking caps. Soap is not regulated and the ingredients do not have to be listed on soap until you make a claim that it is something more than just soap. Guest guest
Believe it or not, when I was a little girl a long time ago, my mother used to wash my hair with fels naptha soap. I grew up with one healthy head of hair. I mean it sure didn't hurt it one bit. Holly On Sun, 14 Jul 2002 08:26:23 -0700 (PDT) mzsistagryl@... writes: What is this particular soap good for? Guest guest
It works wonders for poison ivy. Rub it on your skin BEFORE you hit the woods, then shower with it when you get home and slice off a chunk and wash your clothes with it, too. Works really well. MSP uses it before he goes hunting and fishing. Re: Re: FELS NAPTHA What is this particular soap good for? It seems that alot of you all here wants this soap! Guest guest
Jenn Hi! I agree not fair. All they say are 'cleaning agents'. Thought I'd check out their web site to ck ingredients or call the number to get them. Will list when I do. Also Jenn could you e-mail me privately at theskyes@.... Thanks! Guest guest
If I make claims such as - rejuvinates your skin or regenerates your cells ( still soap) do the ingredients need to be listed? Guest guest
If I'm understanding the CFR correctly, those claims would constitute a " cosmetic " .. meaning - Yes, you'd need to list the ingredients. nan Re: Re: FELS NAPTHA If I make claims such as - rejuvinates your skin or regenerates your cells (still soap) do the ingredients need to be listed? Guest guest
This never works for me! I always get an error so either there aren't any stores in So Cal or the website is not working properly. Darn! Re: Soaps gone buy > Yes I was referring to washing soda.
