Guest guest
When you run, the sensations of working your muscles, endorphins, etc, easily drowns out mild pain. So your knee is sending pain messages while you're running but you just aren't aware of it. Only when you stop do the pain messages from your knee get through. Guest guest
I am in exactly the same predicament. I am a competitive runner as well. I do not experience any pain while running nor do I experience up or down stairs. I only experience after running. Though lately I am experience more and more of the cracking and popping sensations. They don't hurt. In fact, sometimes they big pops make my knee feel better. Almost like it was locked a little until the popping. I have done 2 sessions of PT lasting 2 months each without any improvement. I've been told that my knee is malaligned and that at this point I should do a lateral release. A little background, I have already had this knee cleaned out and a very slight meniscus tear, 2 times with the exact same conditions. I have no faith in doctors and see the medical community as just experimenting as to what " may " work. Every doctor seems to have a different opinion as to the right approach. I'm now following the advice of one who says I should should concentrate on building up my quads, specifically the VMO, through the last 20% of leg extensions and leg presses, while taking Cosamin DS. I've been doing this for 6 months. My legs feel much stronger, but still no improvement on pain or popping. My plan is to continue with the exercises over the winter with no running, and lots of praying. Any suggestions?
